I was at the NRA show this summer and one of the Reps. stated they were working on coming out with a .380, 9mm, and maybe a .40 in a pistol the size of the P22. He gave a time of Oct. sometime but said they always run behind.
Anyone hear anything about this???
Ummm yes I have......
The "PPS" as it was listed as on the promo video "P99 Special Operations" listed a release of SHOT-show 2007
I have tried to get info on the new design over and over again from a Walther rep in Germany via email
once he told me "you will like it's features"..... and last I have heard from him stated.....
"NO PPS till end of next year" and it might even not be a PPS.....
he also asked me to tell him if there is rumours about the gun on the internet to give him the source of roumour... I told him at the time that I got the "rumours" from their own promo DVD.....
To me it looks like Walther or the producers of the promo video were jumping the gun... but non the less there is a new Pistol to come next year.... and you are right from the looks of it on the DVD it is a smaller gun than the P99...

Hmmmmmmmmmmm, not what I wanted to hear but thanks for the info. I am looking again since my Kahr P9's barrel is startin to peen/deform again for the second time. I love the size and setup but am getting annoyed at this problem. Was hoping Walther would come out with a quality CCW in 9MM. I just re-read that and did not mean that the P99 is not quality, because I have considered it. I am just looking for a slimmer gun for IWB carry.
I was considering the P7M8 but its alot heavier than the P9 and longer and taller. Its still a small gun, but I am used to carrying a 16oz gun. Do you carry yours??? If so, how often?
The P7M8 will become my primary CCW.... for the simple fact it is thin and I like it's manual of arms. With a good holster and belt setup you will forget about it fast..
I like the fact it is all steel just couse it will outlast many other guns and it is reliable.
Till now the P99 or P99c was it....and I still think it is one of the best Polymer framed 9mm out there....
I do not carry often though, as it is a royal PITA for me to carry.
I live on a military instalation and CC is not allowed on base....
So in order for me to carry I have to lock up the gun empty and lock up the mag seperate from the gun... then when I am off base I can load and chamber and carry.....
before I get back on base I have to take gun off.. mag out and empty chamber then lock them up seperate again......
Now all this wouldn't be such a big problem if it was just me... but having a 4 and 7 year old... I don't need them to be bashing around about Dady's got a gun.... and it's hard to keep kids quiet about it...
