It seems hunting with long guns, must have a sling.
What about Home defense? Is there a need for a sling indoors?
If so, which slings to you recommend?
Thanks for looking

I have a Wilderness single point sling. I used the GG&G rear reciever plate , mounts between the stock & reciever. Really happy with this setup.

Yes, sling.
1-pt are ok.
standard 2pt as shown works fine if you really need to sling it.
3pts are a bit more complicated to get into though with practice it's easy (i put on/take off an M4 with 3pt many times each day).
you guys have any good retailers for these?
Thanks for the replies...

Home Defense? No point...if you ever had to use it things would happen so fast you'd never think about the sling, much less the load you just dropped in your pants.

If it's an 'out and about gun', I say yes. But I prefer a leather military style sling to some of the flimsy nylon ones I have seen. Our shotguns at work have cheap, flimsy nylon slings, and I have found that they are more of a pain in the butt than they are worth. If you want a sling, look into a good, basic 1 inch wide military leather sling.
For a home defense shotgun, in my opinion, no sling.
Me personally, I have two 870Ps, but I stick with the same G22 that is almost always either on me or beside me, and a good flashlight. Keeps things a LOT more simple. Just bought an Inove T5 to replace my 4D Mag Lite to accompany the G22 at night, and I must say, I am impressed with Inova.

Sling is a necessity, no matter the use. There will be a time that you will need your hands, period. Proper use of the sling is essential to mastering the weapon.
A long gun without a sling is only half a weapon.

Yup, a longgun without a sling is like a pistol without a holster. You may need both hands.
Also, my opinion I'd DX the extra ammo on the sling and add a sidesaddle. I carried the ammo sling for a short while. It just seemed to get in the way and make noise when it banged against things.
