Just picked up a 2nd Gen G19 since the other two 3rd Gen's were getting lonely, plus I needed a beater for carry. $425 OTD not a bad price, considering they gave me a Tupperware and extra mag.
BYK prefix dated by TopGlock to be August 1996, has "Glock" night sights that still glow pretty good, extended slide release ( mmmkay ) and mag latch ( ahem .... something to get used to as it rubs on my middle finger ). It does have the 15 degree extractor but no LCI.
Questions:
1) It does NOT have the "1" on the barrel indicating "improved barrel". All my other G19's have the "1". Has anyone experienced any difference between the two ? I haven't shot it yet but it seems the "non-improved" is not as smooth chambering by hand.
2) The slide could use some TLC as far as "rejuvenating" the finish as it's more of a dull charcoal with minor wear here and there. Any ideas or should I call Glock and see if they'd recoat it?
3) On the inside of the slide towards the rear, the 3rd Gen's have various numbers ( inspection marks ? ) whereas this one it totally blank. Any ideas why ?
Thanks in advance !
