Would like to get into shooting IDPA in SSP division. My first question is about high cap magazines, are you able to use them if you only place ten rounds in them? Since I already have many high caps I'd hate to have to go out and buy a slug of 10 rounders. What kinds of concealed clothes people are using? Also any thoughts on a good holster to start with would be helpfull.
You can use hi-caps downloaded to 10 rd.
Ready tactical and comp-tac make excellent gear.
i'm using a vest from Ready-tactical.
I use Blade-Tech holsters, but Comp-Tac will get you your order a lot faster. I wear a Domke photo vest. The material is heavy enough to make drawing easy and the back is mesh so it's cooler in the summmer.

Almost anything other than an Uncle Mike's kydex (not allowed). Nothing fancy required - in fact I use a simple Dillon belt slide that cost me $20. As long as its a normal "strong side" and not something like a shoulder holster or "tactical/tie-down rig" (like the SWAT guys use) then you should be fine; most normal IWBs are a safe bet and will meet with approval at the match.
MOST IMPORTANT: show up and shoot. You only need 3 mags, a dual carrier & 2 to 3 boxes of ammo. The rest will become clear after your 1st time shooting IDPA.

I use a Blackhawk CQC holster, $30 and a Safari Outback Vest, $40. I can't remember whos mag carriers I use. Fobus, maybe? They were cheap.

"I wear a Domke photo vest."
Not that you need a vest right away or at all but have a Domke too and it's perfect, plus has extra length built into it. Can usually find them at very good $ thru the NYC Camera Stores adv. in Photog Mags.
"Now which holster........"
My advice... Get a cheap one 1st. and look and get a good idea of what the others are using before spending $$ on a "name" one.

Thanks again for all the help on this. I know that there is issues with tac vests, that's why I was wondering what others are wearing. Heck I have plenty of coats, but in the heat.... Just wondering what was working for others. I'm going to check out the Domke photo vest. BTW I'm 6'3", are they fairly long? I'll also check some of the local shops for the holster now that I have some ideas of what people are using.

Tac vest?
Sheesh, just use a T-shirt, jacket, sweat shirt, or something else you already own. No need to get "mall ninja" about it.

The Domke vest is plenty long enough to hide your gear. I got mine at www.bhphotovideo.com

The hip holster belt slide model is not allowed in it's unaltered state since the tunnel is overly large. Uncle Mike's paddle holster is good to go AFAIK.

"...Domke photo vest. BTW I'm 6'3", are they fairly long?"
They are cut longer on purpose for photographers as are also meant to be worn *over* winter clothing and also run large because of it.
I'm a bit over 6'2" and have never had any concealment issues with mine, FWIW. {5.11 vests feel like a canvas tent comared to Domke's are are about as hot in the Summer........}
