View Full Version : G21 U.F.P
The G21 has to be the ultimate fighting pistol .45. IMHO!!! I bought mine in May 06. Since then I have added TruGlo brite sites, extended mag and slide release, Bike tube (homemade) grip, SS barrel, and SS guide rod (captured) with standard spring (17lbs). Yes it has a large grip and is bulky but does not hinder me from shooting well with it. If it came down to it it would be the pistol I would go into battle with. I used an M9 beretta in Iraq and wish I had a G21 instead. Whats your opinion of the G21 and what modifications have you made to it if any?

I think I might agree with you- it is a great battle implement. Everyone has their opinions, but I like mine a lot. Mine is still box stock except for a butt plug. I am not to the point of tricking my collection out a lot yet. I may consider a few tweeks in the future. Its a good iron.

I bought my first Model G-21 during the Fall of 2002. I've been tricking it out, and learning how to maintain and work on it ever since.
I do love this world-class combat pistol! :hearts:

Got my 21 the day after I turned 21, in fact. Back in July, bought this lonely-looking, near-mint 21 from my FFL. Looks like the first person to own it didn't like it for some reason (their loss) and I got a top-notch G21 for 70 bucks off. Put the Tru-Glos on, and I've never looked back. I'd be pretty hard-pressed to find another mod worth the money or effort for this baby. My only beef is that it's a bit too big to conceal, but I've just gotta get creative... :2gun:

I love my G21 too. It is bone stock except that I added Trijicons and a Surefire X200a. Stock is Glock!

Is that the Bar-Sto extended and ported bbl? How is the muzzle flip now? Did it drop in?

:) Sorry for the delay; I haven't been spending a lot of time on the internet lately. Yes, the barrel pictured is Bar-Sto's 416 stainless, 5 1/8" long, dual muzzle-ported, semi drop-in barrel.
I did have to fit the hood; but, it ain't no big deal. Any flat, fine-diamond knife sharpener and a Dremel polishing wheel will get the job done nicely in a couple of hours. (Probably faster if you've done it before!)
The muzzle flip is noticeably less; I'll guess and say a good 10%. The advantage to this setup comes to the fore on repetitive shots fired from the, 'trigger reset position'. Second and third shots are quicker and more accurate. Front sight stays clean, too. Use the right powder, and you'll get minimal flash, as well.
I use the standard factory barrel for everyday CCW. The bottom picture of the holstered G-21 pistol shows it with the standard barrel in place. (If you look close at the bottom of my Blade-Tech holster you'll notice a Dremel cutout for the longer Bar-Sto barrel.) ;)

I have had mine since Glock made a .45 pistol avalible 1993 or 94 carried on duty and off till I retired from Law Enforcment. Never felt I was undergunned even when going up against some folks armed with AK's. Seen to many AK's jam and even fall apart in Viet Nam. Wish we had Glocks back then, I most likely wouldn't limp when it getts cold now.

I just got an Insight technology M3 xenon for mine. It is a great bedside assurance.

:headscratch: I think you're question is directed at me and not army_eod?
The answer is yes; I did all the action and barrel fitting work myself. As a matter of fact, I just finished my second G-21, today. (Now all I've got to do is, 'shoot it in' with about 500 rounds.)
Took me almost 3 years to get enough nerve to take my first Glock apart and work on the action, myself. GT, Wolff Gunsprings, and Lone Wolf Distributors were great resources to fall back on. When I had a question, I just picked up the phone and called.
I don't think there's any other pistol out there that is so easy to work on, or has such a wide variety of parts and accessories available to it for modification. Before I bought my first Glock I could have purchased any pistol I wanted; I very carefully chose the Glock, and have never regretted the decision.
