Nerves 11-24-2006, 10:08 IMHO the XD 45 Service is far better shooter and easier for rapid fire (Double Taps). Photocop 11-25-2006, 03:01 I'm with the ColoradoGlocker on this one. I know I'm in the minority on this one, but I much prefer the fatter grip of the G21's and G20's to that of the slimmer XD 45. My G20 with a Hogue Handall is about a close to perfect as I can imagine now that I'm so used to it. In terms of shootability, the XD 45 is a great gun. I don't find it any degree better, or any degree worse than the Glock. I just feel the XD is somewhat inferior because I think the finish is not as good, the dedicated "chambered round" indicator is potentially problematic due to its unnecessary parts/design, and the grip safety is absolutely useless and just another thing that can make that gun fail to go bang when needed. Accessories are not nearly as plentiful either. Just my opinion, however, and overall the XD is a great firearm. GIXXER PILOT 11-25-2006, 07:34 GLOCK-21 hands down winner.the XD-45T is a jamamatic with a creepy trigger.and magazine problems.go down to the XD section and read about all the problems they are haveing with it.LOTS OF GUNS GETTING SENT BACK TO THE FACTORY.Witch is a shame because i like the XD-T. stmcelroy 11-25-2006, 21:06 I bought a XD45 used, and while it was plenty reliable and accurate, it just did not compare to my Glock 30 and 17. I'm looking forward to getting another 21 one of these days. Steve Arc Angel 11-26-2006, 16:54  Well, to be honest, I really don't like the Springfield XD-45. Several of the people I regularly shoot with are in love with their XD's; but, after shooting them extensively, I'm completely unimpressed! Because I tend to fire multiple rounds, as quickly as possible, trigger reset is very important to me. This is where the Glock G-21 absolutely shines, and the Springfield XD-45 absolutely stinks! (Glad I'm posting anonymously because I'm sure such candor on my part would anger a few good friends!) ;) The other thing I've noticed about the XD-45 is that they seem to have a lot of trouble with weak magazine springs. Attempts by various XD-45 owners have shown me that parts for the XD ain't all that easy to come by; and the Springfield factory always wants the pistol to be sent in for any changes. Now, who needs that! Hey, live and let live. Everybody is welcome to shoot whatever makes them happy; but me, personally, I'll never be either an XD owner or fan. :) GMAN40 11-27-2006, 11:40 Arc Angel, I too had trouble with Springfield Armory mags for my high cap. .45 1911. I sent them back to them for replacements and they sent me back mags that did the same ole thing RATTLE! As far as other parts your correct!, they wanted the gun sent into them. Aftermarket rubber grips were never available. So I traded it in for a new G21 and never looked back. Arc Angel 11-27-2006, 16:46 Yeah, and so far nobody's even mentioned the XD's very high bore axis! (Which makes it even harder for me to shoot straight.) ;) walkin' trails 11-27-2006, 18:41 I've read some rave reviews about the XDs in recent times, but they'll have to go a long way to beat, or even match the rock solid reliability of the G21. The only negative that could be said about the 21 is its size. Otherwise, its the most shooter friendly, reliable, accurate .45 ACP pistol out of the box that I've ever played with. JMag 11-27-2006, 19:03 I've noticed that Clint Smith is now big on the XD .45 and owns a couple, IIRC. I wonder if he's a paid endorser or if he came upon this purely by experience with the gun thus far? Note: I'm not bashing Clint, only making an observation and asking a question. GIXXER PILOT 11-28-2006, 14:11 The tv show you are seeing him useing the XD on.is sponsered by Springfield. GMAN40 11-29-2006, 16:24 Hmmmmmmmmm Interesting:shocked: Antfarmer 11-30-2006, 20:29 Originally posted by GIXXER PILOT The tv show you are seeing him useing the XD on.is sponsered by Springfield. He's also got an article about the XD45 in the latest American Handgunner issue. GMAN40 12-06-2006, 15:58 Most gun rags will say anything positive on their sponsers products as long as they keep advertizing in their mags. I go by actual field experiences by real people. johnster999 12-07-2006, 11:38 I bought an XD 45 Service. Nice gun. Reliable and has a good feel but I cannot shoot it as well as my Glocks. The XD will likely end up traded or sold. army_eod 12-08-2006, 03:44 The XD is not a Glock. There is nothing like a Glock. I did own an XD. vBulletin® v3.7.3, Copyright ©2000-2010, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. | ![]() |
