View Full Version : How to remove trigger pin on Ruger MK I

I have an old Ruger MK I pistol that I picked up about a year and a half ago. Great shape, shoots great, and a good price. Anyway, I picked up an accurizing kit from Brownells. The new sear, spring, and hammer made a big difference in the trigger pull. The kit also comes with a new trigger that is adjustable for the first stage and the over travel. I'd like to put it in but I can't get the trigger pin out. It appears to have a small clip ring holding it in, but there's not enough room between the frame, and the trigger to actually get a good hold on it to pull it out.
Any suggestions on how to remove this pin short of drilling it out?

Thanks for the reply. I had already found that web page. It was very helpful. I hadn't disassembled a Ruger for over a decade. Unfortunatly, those instructions are for a MK II. The MK I doesn't have the retaining spring like the MK II. It actually does have an E clip on it. I finally managed to get it off using a pair of forceps and a dental pick. Of course in the process I lost the detent out of the safty.... Oh well, I now have one SWEET trigger pull. I worked on it a little more and shortened the sear engaugement a few more thousandths, and squared up the hammer spur a little better. The sear engaugement could stand to be just a tad bit shorter, but for this gun I think I'm going to leave it as it is now. I have it all Mili-Tech'd and ready to go. Can't wait to get it to the range!
Thanks again for the reply!
