View Full Version : Why, How, and is it bad?
I detail stripped my g22 tonight to give it a super cleaning, and noticed something that concerned me. as you can see from the pics I attached..... for some reason there are two gouges above the rails on the inside of my slide near the ejector port. So.... my questions are how did this happen?, why did it happen?, and is this a bad thing? Should I look into getting the slide replaced or just hit is with the dremel to smooth it out and forget about it?
Thanks for any help you can give me!

Well, your pictures don't work. It's probably slide peening. Do a search for it. Very common, very harmless. Put the dremel down!
I'll check out a search on that........ thanks! Just never ran into that before, didn't know if it is was problem or not.
No dremel will be employed.
Thanks again!

Even if you can't find it, it's a very common happening on a .40 Glock. Like about 98% do it, doesn't hurt, just happens. Gets to a point & then stops when the pistol is fully broken in.
Don't know why, but it seems not to happen on the big frame pistols (10MM & .45ACP), might be due to the frame flexing on the .40's, since that frame size was built for a 9mm.

If it really bugs you, the locking block (the top two rails) can be milled or surfaced down enough so that it wont ever do it again. Did that to my G37 and liked it ever since. Just something about the block touching my moving slide I didnt like.
