Need help classifying P38

My brother gave me a P38 and I would like to know it's history. Is this a wartime gun or post-war production?

Markings-
left side of slide .5 inches from front says P.38 and then cyq

left side of slide 3 inches from front is number 8029 and then letter i (not capitalized)
right side of slide has several markings shown in the photo below. There is a number 2(?) in the photo below and to the right of the rightmost marking.

Any idea where and when this gun was made?

It is wartime production.

It was made at the Spreewerk plant in Bystrica, Czechoslovakia.

Spreewerke is correct but they were in Berlin.

Despite that article, Spreewerke were in Spandau/Berlin. They got their name from the river Spree where their main office was located.

It might be that the main office was there in Berlin... but that is not where they were manufatured...as far as I know

Do a little research, besides that article in Wikipedia that is just plain wrong, and you will find that Spreewerke were indeed in Berlin.

I had my home work done... I just thought the article was a nice history write up on the P38 overall..... but now that you questioned me and Wikipedia.... I just asked the P38 Guru.....
