Went to the gunshow today in Birmingham and ended up buying a 6-round side saddle for my 870. Great...get it home and put it next to the gun and; wait a minute; the forend overlaps the reciever and the saddle would hinder operation had I mounted it.
Can anyone recommend an inexpensive forend that won't look too bad with the factory buttstock on my 870 Express? Links would be great, as I'm not too familiar with many online vendors.
ETA...sure I could hack off the end of the stock forend, but I'd rather not have to do that.

I have a stock fore end that is already hacked off if you want it. Pay for shipping, and its yours.
By the way, if you do it right, you cant even tell.
The SpeedFeed stuff is good enough that Remington uses it on some factory models.

Agreed. Couple of minutes with a cutoff wheel and some sandpaper and you will never know the difference.

The shorter SpeedFeed (law enforcement model) forend will work with your side-saddle.
However, after trying many, many designs, I find that I like the little cheap, minimalist "corncob" synthetic forends best -- better than the usual hand-filling synthetic copies of a full wood "sporting" forend.
Better grip, less bulk, less weight.
I usually pick them up cheap at gunshows. I think the last one that I bought, I got from Cheaper Than Dirt or one of the similar "gunstore commando" type websites.

Speedfeed LE Forend will work with the side saddle or just modify your current forend by shortening the left side of the forend.

I'm kicking myself for not just paying the extra money and buying the speedfeed stock set that another vendor had for $50. Actually, they had several, all NIB. I guess I'll end up paying more and getting a SF eventually, but in the meantime I'm gonna just hack off the end of the forend myself. Thanks for the replies, guys.

Take a look at these two:

The second one is the type I like -- a simple corncob grip (without the goofy rail and vertical grip).

ET Yes as a matter of fact, everything in the Gun World does in fact have to be covered by 1913 rails. It's actually required by law, in accordance with the Armchair Commando Ninja Tacty-cal Wannabe act of 2006 recently signed into law by Presedint Bush all new firearms not strictly intended for recreational hunting use must sport not less than 3 1913 Rail Interfaces, all furniture must be made of intimidating black plastic, once optional accessories such as side saddles and Tacty-cal slings and hookey uppy things with lots of velcro are now in fact required by law. Users are now required to wear black or desert cammo BDUs while actually engaged in shooting covered firearms
Hope this helps
