View Full Version : Anyone have both a Tac 65 and an Outback?
I have an OutbackII and love it dearly, but after having it for a few years and thinking long-term, it seems I may have made a poor choice when comparing it to the Tac 65. Only reason is that the Tac can be taken apart for cleaning and the OutbackII can't.
I'm just hoping that by cleaning it every time I shoot it, in 20 years it'll still be going strong and in 75 years my grandchildren will still be having fun with it.
Would/is the Tac 65 be a wiser choice for maintaining a functioning suppressor for decades to come?
Thanks!

Gemtech actually recommends not cleaning your can very often. If it gets too leaded up or the baffles wear away Gemtech will repair it.
I would say that the Gemtech is a better choice for the long term than the Tac, but that is just me.

True, and Gem-tech is one HELL of a great company with even better customer service, but who's to say Gem-tech will be around in 100 years?...or that it will still be legal for citizens to own a suppressor around that time?
See the Tac 65 just seems more efficient in terms of being self-reliant. But again, good point about the Gem-Tech offer.
Thanks!:)

Disagree. If your can ever stops working, GT will clean/fix it for free less shipping.
The only thing you need to do is soak it in ATF/mineral spirits bro and keep the threads clean and lubed. Theres no other cleaning that a good can requires.
The only exceptions are the QD can mounts such as my TPRS and M496D. Those units need to be cleaned, but it's not the baffles that need cleaning.
IMO there is no comparison between the two products.
