Well, in spite of all the negative comments, I got myself a 36, SN KLRxxx, so I guess it is a new manufacture. Purchased at a gun show, NIB for $485.00. I like the 1911 in 45ACP, and wanted a concealable 45. I sold a G26 because the grip was just a little too stubby for my hand. The 36 fits and feels good.
I hear that you have to keep a good solid grip, so what else is new. Don't you have to do that with any gun you shoot. I plan on carrying it with ball ammo. What is good enough for the military is good enough for me.
I will shoot it some time this weekend and wring it out. When I do I will report back with a reliability report. The only options I may add will be a set of Aro-tek sights. I don't really see the need for night sites. I had them on my G26 and the guy that bought it lucked out.
I have never had an issue with any gun I have owned, I don't think I will have one with the 36. Wish me luck!
