View Full Version : Should I have bought this Russian Mak?
At the Saxet show up in Conroe last weekend there was a lady trying to get $350 for a Russian Makarov in the original cardboard box. I heard the dealer tell her he couldn't touch that price and she turned away. I asked her about the gun and she told me they had bought it recently at a show in Houston for $360 and that they needed the money back. I was tempted to offer her a bit less or even pay what she was asking but I already have a nice Bulgarian and the Russian would just be a safe queen for me so I told her she might get a better price online than from the dealers at that show. I know the Russian Maks are worth more than the Bulgarians but I really don't know what they are worth these days. Is my non-buyers remorse justified?

Evidently it wasn't worth it to you.
IIRC that's around what the Russian ones are going for at Gunbroker.

To each his own, but if it was an IJ-70 I don't think they're worth more than Bulgarians by any means. I'm always suprised by how much people are willing to give for them.

If it was a milsurp Russian Makarov, the price was about right.
If it was an IJ70, the price was way too high.

I still think $200 is high for a Mak (unless it comes with 'accessories' or some such). Maybe I'm just getting old. :(
