finally got my mitts on a p99 ITS SO ON MY CHRISTMAS LIST NOW!!
the grip ergonomics are so nice!!
I can't say I care for having that really light pull then the regular pull afterwards. the qa's are the regular pull from first shot to last correct? this was an older model. I like me a nice consistant trigger pull.
either way!! me likey me want!! I'll be sure to post the pics after santa comes!
The AS trigger (DA/SA) has a cult-like following, it's an awesome trigger if you like DA/SA. But the QA sounds like the one you want, same pull for each shot.
Love my P99c AS!

yeah.. I'da picked it up right then and there if the lighter trigger pull was the one it kept thru the entire state of firing. I guess I'm just too used to glockesq triggers its all I know.
I'd try one of the qa's. I've never met anyone so far that tried both and liked the qa better. It's a consistent but heavy trigger pull as in much like a da revolver heavy...

well I havnt tried both, is the qa pull the same as the pull after the first pull on the as? I like the first pull on the as I just dont like that its not consistant I want one or the other ya know. the main thing I liked about it was while the second pull and those after were heavy, it was nice and smooth
If I remember correctly the first pull on the AS is about 5 pounds, very comparable to the stock Glock at 5.5 pounds while the QA is a constant 8 pounds.

it was also a lot shorter travel gosh they need to make a p99 with the first trigger pull all the time!
Well, I would still prefer the AS trigger personally. The AS trigger can be cocked so the first trigger pull is the same weight as the others and the trigger can be partially pulled so that the stroke is the same as subsequent pulls. I personally wouldn't carry it that way, to me it allows too many chances of a AD/ND. I think it's perfect as is. First pull a bit tougher so that you don't fire a round getting it out, shots afterwards light, smooth and sweet. Different strokes I guess though if I were you.
I just reread your original post and you're saying the first pull was light. That means it was cocked (as mentioned above) to begin with. If that's what you're trying to avoid, once you're done chambering a round just press the decocker. The trigger pull will be heavier since it is full double action on the first stroke. The three states it can be in are:
1) Uncocked, first trigger pull is both longer and heavier than suceeding pulls.
2) Cocked but trigger not pulled. Trigger pull is longer but the same weight as subsequent pulls.
3) Cocked and trigger partially pulled. Trigger pull is same weight and stroke as the suceeding pulls.
All have their points but after experimentation I prefer the first option since I frequently pocket carry it and really don't want to shoot myself in the leg!

well, I didn't know all those things when I tried it I just racked the slide once the trigger was light then heavier .. but not too heavy imho. so I guess my minds made up. theres practically no ccw where I live anyways so worrying about carrying doesn't matter to me.
Hey you have to do what works best for you. I just wanted to give you a heads up on it! Good luck with whatever choice you make!

I understand and I appreciate the information I didn't understand the as triggers worth a damn till you explained it. the other thing purely cosmetic about the trigger I liked was it was smooth and hooked it kind of cradles your finger so that you don't pinch it on accident. that I really liked. well! dec 21st is when I turn 21 so its gonna be mine!
couple other things, the one I saw was the titanium coated one its rather nice. It's something different. P99s have the same tennifer finish as glocks right? are the titanium coated ones tennifer as well?

id stay far away from that titanium coating as its just that....a coating and it doesnt seem to protect well at all. the ones ive seen all have rust. food for thought.

so the titanium coated ones arent tennifer finished under the titanium? that sucks. I guess If I really wanted it I could always get the regular slide hard chromed someday

no, its still tennifer treated so dont worry but, the ones ive seen still had rust spots. however, i do not know for sure if the Ti coating replaces the tennifer-really doubt it cause, that would be too costly to manufacture b/c they would still be treating all the other non-Ti slides etc, except a few? seems alot to do but, ive heard more weird things.

yeah the rust thing scares me enough that I'm going to get the regular slide and hard chrome it

You've been given some confusing answers in this thread so let me take a shot at it. You racked the slide so you started cocked. That made the first trigger pull 4.6 lbs. Since you are dry firing, the subsequent shots have a heavier (uncocked)pull. If you were firing live ammo starting from cocked, all the trigger pulls would be 4.6 lbs.
So in actual live ammo use of the pistol, the first pull can be heavy or light depending on whether you start cocked. All subsequent pulls will be light (the opposite of what you experienced dry firing. ) If you want a consistent Glock trigger, just chamber a round, pull the trigger back to the SA position and holster the weapon. It will behave as a consistent Glock-like trigger with 4.6 lb pull. If you decock, you will have a heavy first pull and all the others will be 4.6 lbs.
The QA is a consistent 8 lb trigger but this is more like a revolver because it is so heavy. All this sounds complicated but it is really easy when you practice a bit. I really like the AS trigger and I suspect that is what you are looking for as well.

Its no where close to a DA revolver.
I prefer the QA as a SD gun.

Agreed. The feel of the QA is nothing like my DA revolvers. I have tried the AS as well and prefer the QA.

i have the qa now.. i find i tend to pull the trigger to the left and down so shots land in the lower left corner of where im aiming ... i pull the trigger with snap caps all the time and i cant seem to correct it so far.. ive put about 1k rounds thru it and I got it on new years day. i suppose ill figure out the trigger eventually but it has no travel practically unlike glocks where you can prep the trigger longer. but like i said.. ill figure it out eventually. shots are still where they need to be just to the lower left heh.. course were talkin its all inside a 4 1/2 x 7 shoot n see target.
