45 out of a G20/21L

Anybody shooting 45 out of their G20 Longslide yet? I believe that Santa may be throwing a Lonewolf 6 inch 45 cal barrel my way and I'm interested in any loads folks may be using. I'll check the 21 forum out but wanted to get some input from the Longslide guys.

I bet 45 is flat out sweet to shoot in this thing.

The G21L can use a conversion barrel to fire 10mm. BUT, the G20L can't fire 45 ACP at all. The breechface is too narrow.

If you want to fire both 10mm and 45ACP, you need a G21 and a conversion barrel.

This Longslide is in fact a G21 slide with a 45/10mm conversion barrel. Quite a few people call it either a G21 Longslide (probably more proper) or a G20 Longslide (to denote the 10mm conversion. I should have been more specific, sorry.

It is in fact a G21 slide that all of the longslide folks have purchased 10mm conversion barrels for. The incoming 45 barrel will just fit it as a normal G21.

When i first received my longslide from lonewolf, it only had the 45 barrel, the 10mm was on back order, i shot 230 ball and some IPSC loads i had on hand, all i can say is BORING!!, the recoil was so tame i thought i had brought some mild loads by mistake...This week i have some 185gr Golden sabres, and some Zero 230gr Jhp coming that i will load to nuclear levels. I will keep you informed when i get to the range to try them out. :thumbsup:

OK, I'll bite... I looked on the Lone Wolf site, but can't find a long slide for the 21. Could you point me in the right direction?

Lonewolf is out of the longslides at this time. I bought mine back in Sept when they only had 6-10 left. They didn't last long. As far as i have heard on this forum, no date as to when they will be available. Not trying to rub salt in a wound, but definetly worth every penny......

Buckeyeglock is correct about Lonewolf, and about the slides being worth every penny...... You might want to try Bar-sto, they also had some slides, hey you never know, they might have one stuck in some distant corner of their shop, just waiting for someone to snatch it up.

One last thing Mouser, keep an eye on the Caspian website, they will be making 34/35 slides soon, who knows maybe if they get enough interest they will make 20/21s

I shoot only .45 out of mine. I just installed a 11# spring as even with a 13# spring my bowling pin loads (which are not that weak) would fly only about a foot away, hit me in the face, and sometimes fail to cycle. I hope this helps it.

I also shoot .45Super out of it with a 22# spring. I have chronoed my .45Super loads at 1200 fps with a 230gr. bullet. The longslide cuts down on felt recoil with these a LOT. Out of the stock slide and the 6" barrel the recoil would make my hand tingle, not so with the longslide.

45 Barrel (Lone Wolf) just arrived via the Christmas tree... Off to the range tomorrow :) I'm going to try the factory G21 spring first, which I'm sure is going to need some warm loads to even cycle properly. I have an aftermarket guiderod that I'll get some lower power springs for in the near term.

BTW, the Lone Wolf barrel fits very well and looks great.

450 SMC looks interesting based upon a search within GT. McNett getting hold of it sounds even better. We will get to see exactly what it can do.

You think my Lone Wolf barrel will hold up well with it? I have not heard anything negative about them at all.

You and me both, man. I would love to get a G21 Longslide and start playing around with some 45 super loads for general woods carry and hunting.
