Im looking into getting a semi auto 12ga for home defense. The only expirence I have with Semi auto shotguns is the Browning Auto 5. (I love those guns!)
I'm just looking for a more tactical option.
Price range is $1500 but as always, the cheaper the better (so as long as its reliable)
Can you guys help me out?

For $1500, buy a pump, a case of shells, and sign up for a class.
If you insist, Rem 11-87 or Moss 9200, both in their LE/mil variants. 9200 may be tougher to find.

I am a fan of the Beretta 1201FP over any of the others, including the Benelli. Very similar shotgun to the Benellis, but a better made piece, IMO.
To be honest, an A5 isnt a bad gun when its bobbed and rodded. The recoil action makes it very reliable.
Me, Id stick with an 870.

Get an 11-87 POLICE, from the Remington Law Enforcement catalog, with the 18" barrel and ghost-ring sights option.
Perfect for self-defense, right from the box, just add ammo (preferably Federal 00 buck with the new Flite COntrol wad).
You will not be sorry.

M4 gets my vote as well. I own 2 benelli's and are some of the best shotguns IMO.

I was pleased with the performance of the 11-87's we used in my office. An 18" is good, 14" is better indoors.
Good shopping & good shooting!

I have shot one. Nice gun, but a bit on the light side. That makes it recoil a bit more than the other autos I have shot.

Where is a good place online that carries the 1201FP? I'm having trouble finding one.
