I recently purchased an older (metal safety, single rail action slide tube assy.) used Mossy 500A from an individual for a resonable price. However, the action is a bit sticky at either end of the cycle... Could be due to the fact that the original action slide tube assy (Part #4 @ Brownells, Schematic 160) is not present and has been replaced by a cut down double rail ASTA. There are two sizes of ASTAs available on the website. Using the longer one in a system designed for the shorter might cause said stickieness, seeing as this is not an original part.
I have another reciever(parts box, auction) that accepts the now std double rail ASTA, as well as a complete bolt and the plate thingie under it(doesn't give name, part #74, above schematic). Seeing as I've not found an original single rail ASTA online (see where this is going?), does anyone see any problem with switching out the recievers and internals to function with a two rail ASTA? I'mma try it with my other mossy 500s, and measure the rails for reference. Anyone with experience and or helpful input, any and all is appreciated. I'll be back on to check in a few hours.
Thanks
Percival
