JMB's "Born on" date... Jan 21 or Jan 23?

I'm doing a little research and see that JMB's birthday is cited by many sources as Jan 21, 1855, but a significant number put it s Jan 23, 1855.

I've googled it to death - does anyone have intel from an authoritative source as to what the date is?
