View Full Version : need help on recoil assembly
I am setting up my glock 35 for USPSA. I put a new barrel on it and bought a 22# recoil spring. This may be a stupid question, but I have messed up a lot of guns doing something stupid with out asking. How do I take the old spring off the recoil rod and put the new one on? Also I am thinking of getting a tungsten recoil rod. What is the difference between a captured rod and a standard rod. Thanks in advance for the help.

First, I would recommend looking at lighter springs, you will do a lot more work with that 22. Read up on spring weights here

On a stock rod there is a friction fit end cap. Remove the endcap, pliers and a vice work well. Then you can swap springs.
A captured rod captures the spring on the rod, similar to the factory setup. A noncap rod would be like the factory rod without the endcap.

I put a KKM barrel on it. What would be your suggestion for a spring weight and guide rod. keep in mind, I want to stay in the major class.
Thanks for the info on the stock guide rod. What LB spring does the 35 come stock with.

Stock weight is 17. For recommendations see the spring article.
