Failure's out of the Box

Just a curious question. I work for a Department where factory new Sig 229s and 239s were just issued and we've encountered significant failures on 4 weapons out of 130. Significant enough to warrant returning to the factory, ftf, failure to go into battery are two examples. (checked and rechecked with diff shooters and ammo)

I was wondering if anyone has a similar experience with other handgun platforms. Might just be me, but for a duty weapon to have 2-4% failure rate out of the box just seems a bit on the scary side.

I've seen this same problem with 229's some of the barrels are fit pretty tight and once they are shot for a little while carbon builds on the barrel hood and can cause some issues. Two ways to deal with it one clean often and shoot or have your Armorer stone the barrel hood a little to give it more clearence.

Give the chance a gun to break in. Ru 500 rounds first then see if you have problems.

Custom Glock I hear you and agree but man, I fear the guy on duty that stakes his life on a firearm that is not "broken in" yet.. ya know?
