View Full Version : Best leather (or kydex) for a railed gun?
Looking for a present for a friend with a 1911 with a rail - Caspian/Kimber profile.
Looking for a nice holster either with or without the light - available before Christmas.
I think without the light would be preferred, but quality is more important than which style.
Thanks -
Paul

You can get a Blade Tech made for the 1911 with a rail. Mine is made for the Kimber TLE (Caspian Recon Frame). I use that holster for IDPA and USPSA. For off duty carry I use a Milt Sparks Versa Max II. Both of these holsters are for use with just the pistol no light. My duty rig is a Safariland 6280 and it set up for the pistol with a X200 surefire in place. Hope this helps.

Sidearmor makes a modular holster for that gun with a Surefire X200 mounted. Mine works with of without the light attached. It's a neat holster and very adjustable, the only downside is it holds out from the body more than I care for when concealing.
Comp Tac got the nod - there are a lot more options now than there were two years ago... good stuff!
I have a Comp-Tac CTAC for my Glock 21 and 30. They are very nice. I plan to get one for my railed 1911 when I get it out of layaway.

Fobus makes a kydex holster for Glocks w/ light mounted. I am not sure about a 1911. Bianca is supposed to be coming out with an off-duty /plain clothes leather holster for guns w/ the light mounted, but I am not sure they are actually available yet.
Maybe this will help a little.
You won't get one before Christmas unless you buy it on Ebay, but Kramer holsters are some of the absolute best.
I`ve just ordered one for my Warrior from BladeTech. Too bad its going to take 5 weeks to get it.
