I gotta ask... why Deagles?

I mean, I'm all about magnums. Really. I'm a .357 revolver guy no question about it... and everything about the magnum round period is great: fast, flat, long, what's not to like? But after say .41 magnum... aren't you just making the blood and brains a little harder to clean up after the fact?

If ya thought a situation called for the "big guns," why would you turn to your .50AE instead of your AR-15 or your shotgun? If you wanted to obliterate a squirrel from 75 yards away, wouldn't the same .30-06 you use for hunting be just as satisfying?

I'm not knocking Deagles, I just want to understand what the purpose of the gun is besides the "biggest auto ever!" factor.

In other words, give me reasons to buy one :wavey:

When the zombies are coming through the wire and you are out of everything but more zombies and 50ae ammo.

Then, oh yes, then.

Then you will appreciate having a Desert Eagle handy.

Planning ahead to save civilization from the un-dead hordes is your duty as a man. Or a large hairy woman. :tongueout: :tongueout: :tongueout:

Isn't that enough? Someone has to make the biggest, right?

This, in Florida.

You've found a very small stream that goes off the main river. It winds it's way through the cypress swamp and back through the still green water of the river swamp. There is thick vines and saw palmetto's on either side of the bank.Your using your trolling motor for quietness so you will perhaps get a shot at one of the big, mean, backwater, boar hogs that you have seen the tracks of so often.

You don't hear anything, but you see a palmetto fan move very gently. You slow the boat, and watch. Another palmetto fan moves. You ease the boat up onto the bank and step out. The vegetation is so thick that you can only see 10 feet. As you advance very slowly the vines just ahead of you move. The ONLY way that you will be able to see up under the under growth is to get down on your knees or perhaps stomach.

Now your on their turf. At their level. Your kevlar snake boots wont help you now. That big boar can have cutters(lower tusks)up to 4" long, and they have been sharpened to a razors edge.(I have been cut to the tune of 9 stiches, just by grabbing the hog the wrong way to drag him outta the woods.)My 17" boots have saved my legs three times already.

You very slowly and quietly, bend down and look up under the vegetation. You see a huge black object with smallish black eyes looking(stareing) back at you.

You gotta start shootin' or start runnin". Those are your only choices.

It is times like this that you want all the firepower that you can get.9 shots of handloaded Hornady 300gr. XTP's makes the outcome tilt in your favor.

Sure,I have a Taurus .454 Casull, but during this "battle" you can't be bothered with trying to find a hammer to recock. He's only 10 feet from you and can cover that distance in the blink of an eye.

Double tap a .44mag ??? Sure you can. Especially if the handgun is gas operated and weights nearly 5 pounds. A couple of double taps wouldn't be outta the question.

I have also used the DE during my days as a Maine Guide to track wounded black bear,to dispatch wounded moose, and kill 240#(field dressed) deer.

If I had the choice between a revo and my DE,Id take the DE any day.

To me the DE is as accurate as any .44mag revo. Especially with aftermarket adjustable sights.

My weapon wears a Hogue grip also. It controls allot better with this.

If you do get a DE,get one of the origional ones made by IMI in Israel. To me the workmanship is much better.

My answer is because it's just so stinkin' cool to light off rounds thru it!!!!! Do I need it? No. Do I shoot it all that much? No. Do I want to get rid of it? No. Will it take care of zombies? I'm bettin' on it!

Clearly you've never played Resident Evil. Everyone knows a Desert Eagle .50AE will take a Zombie's head clean off in one shot everytime, duh.

Honestly, if zombies ever came to my door, I would much prefer a low recoil, high accurcy round like a .223 or maybe a 9mm carbine. Haven't you guys read The Zombie Survival Guide? lol

With a .223 at VERY BEST unless you have multiple hits or a solid head shot you'll only temporally disable the zombie. Anything that starts with a .5 WILL get the job done. This is serious stuff folks, don't take it lightly.

Once you have shot one, you will want one. I can reccomend the 44 magnum version, but the big dawg is certainly the 50AE.:hearts:

I bought a Desert Eagle simply because at the time it was the biggest dog in the neighborhood. Would I sell it? Not in this lifetime. http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a270/MNBud/TheEagle.jpg

When the zombies take over, ammo will be "free", providing you can find a place that hasn't already been looted.

I'm fortunate enough that a couple of times,at the range there will be someone renting a 50ae and I'll scoop up their brass.;)

A guy ask me last week why I carry a .50 and I looked him square in the eyes and replied " cause they don't make a .60".

Actually I am kidding. I don't own a .50ae but do have it on my wish list. My main carry gun is a Glock G20 10MM with DoubleTap ammo. But ya gotta love those Desert Eagle's. I will own one soon (I hope).
