I also posted this in the "Gunsmithing" forum, but wanted to share this here as well:
Had a G36 come into the shop this evening that was having failure to go into battery problems...tore it apart, re-assemble, and same problem! Tore it apart, changed out a few parts, re-assemble, and still same problem!! Got to looking a little closer and realized exactly what is was...the friggin' hex nut for the front sight was too thick! On a G36 there's such a small amount of space between the barrel and slide roof that the damn nut was jammin' up the pistol...a few minutes of passing it over a stone and all was fine!
I thought I'd share this for anyone who may be having similar function problems with a G36...take a look at your front sight nut if you're using such a sight. This sight in question was a Trijicon.
