View Full Version : Colt 1911 WW I reproduction...
What a piece of work... if you're looking for a toy with history, this is it. The Custom Shop did a great job here; worth the asking price.
Oops... THIS is the left side.
Mods, I tried to delete the above post; the software would not allow it.
Okay, thanks to the mavens at 1911.org, I know this holster is "wrong" for the period; the M7 didn't appear until near the end of WW II, and the army didn't go from russet leather to dyed black until 1956.
Just use your imagination... :D
thats how i like my 1911s ......origonal .beautiful fantastic i wish i had one.
I can say from first hand experience that it is indeed a HELL of a nice piece... after handling it, shooting it, etc I want one. Fir and finish are top notch. I think the only non-mil spec aspect to it is that I almost find it hard to believe they could make them that nice almost 100 years ago.
Wants, needs, obligations - why do they align so rarely?
I WANT one! There has been one floating around my local shop here for a while. Someone bought it, then traded it back in, unfired. Another guy bought it and traded it back in, unfired. It's gone again and I have the money all ready for when it comes back in again. If I get it, I'll fix the unfired part!
I was impressed with the accuracy, and how well the itsy bitsy sights actually worked.
I fondled one at my local fun store the other day. I was very impressed with the finish and quality. It proves that Colt is capable of putting out an amazing product once again. I can't buy one now, because my wife would kill me. I already have a 1945 built Colt G.I. 1911A1, a NRM Colt 1991, and a Pre-80 Series Combat Commander that is getting completely redone to my specs. I like to call it Total Gun Makeover, borrowing from ABC's Total Home Makeover. I think they should do a TV show about it and have sponsors donate their time and money to fix up my Commander, you know, to preserve my marriage. If only it were a perfect world.
Can't wait 'til it's done - I'll post pics when it is.

Does anyone know of a distributor with a Colt WW1 in stock?
I have the cash, but my dealer is having trouble finding one.

I have a Sistema with those itsy bitsy sights and I agree they make for accurate shooting, slow, but accurate.
