View Full Version : ACOG help please
I have a EOTech on my first AR and I am looking at a second AR with hopes to mount an ACOG on it. I like the ACOGs and like the donut reticle. Any thoughts on the TA31 or TA11? Any other feedback on the ACOGs would be much appreciated.
I am not sure as to the distances I will be shooting. Atleast 300m.
I realize this will not help, but I prefer the Chevron over the Donut retical. I was able to try both, and IMHO the Chevron seems more capable of a "precision" shot. YMMV
I did buy a ACOG TA31F RCO M4 for my RECCE build, but I am not quite done with it yet.

I like the chevron much better myself. Some folks like the donut, though.

Of the various reticles for the ACOG, the circle is the fastest, the mind just can superimpose circles faster, the chevron is a bit slower because you attempt to be a bit more accurate with it vice just putting the circle over the target.
I found the triangle has the same problem as the chevron, and the only reason I would not get one on a ACOG is that you will have to go a quick offset at the 200-300 m ranges because the triangle can obscure a little of the target.
Well, I have only looked at one with a donut months ago at a dealer, never shot with one or seen the chevron. You jerks just made this more difficult.
Any other reticle feedback?
I know this wont help either, but I like the crosshairs on the TA01.
It may not be as quick as the chevron or donut, but it's definately acccurate.........

I have a TA31 with the donut of death... I like this ACOG, but I wish I had the chevron or the triangle. I have either owned or tried all of the different reticles.
The donut gets the job done though. It's mostly about preference.

I prefer the Ta01 crosshairs or chevron, as I am not looking for speed in a magnified optic as much as precision.
Consider your uses, take a look at them all, and find your preference. My next will be a chevron.

If you use an ARMS 19S mount with your ACOG, you can get an additional 1/2" of eye relief. It is designed to fit the contour of the 40L BUIS you are using. 1/2" may not seem like much, but it actually helps quite a bit.

Well to make it even worse for you, Trijicon just came out with a new compact ACOG. It is a 3X30 with a red chevron, BDC calibrated for a flattop AR shooting 62gr ammo. What makes this ACOG so special is the eye relief. It has the most eye relief of ANY magnified ACOG.

I prefer the TA11 over the TA31 because of it's longer eye relief.

+1 for the Donut of Death! Works great for in close and up to 300m. Fine above 300m but I usually QR it and go to Scope if over 300.
YMMV, FH
