And I don't mean dating socially but figuring out the age of the weapon. Can the serial number point to a date of manufacture? Are some better or more desireable than others?
I haven't owned a shotgun in close to 20 years and that one was an H&R cut down as a patrol gun. I just recently purchased a pre-owned 870 Express Magnum for a house gun/truck gun and plan on working it to suit me but I'd like to know if there are specific issues I need to make it mechanically sound/reliable before I make it "pretty" and tacticool.
Any thoughts are appreciated.
