Just ordered my first AR15; arrives in a month: Bushmaster BCWA3F-16F, telestock, A3, fluted barrel.
Intended use is defense of house, such as the aftermath of an earthquake. Only AR15 experience is a single carbine course a year ago. I'll likely fire about 1000 rounds/year.
What spare parts are essential to keep the carbine "duty-ready"?
any web-links would be greatly appreciated
thanx
(BTW, I do a lot of reading on GlockTalk and think the quality of info, and professionalism of posters** on this forum is the best in all of GlockTalk. **You know who you are.)

Your Bushmaster will be serviceable in the task assigned, with a few caveats. If you do a search of posts in the BRC, last 60 days, you'll find threads on recommended spares, and proactive measures to maximize utility.

A search on "AR15 spare parts" yielded one result:

I want to see if anyone had anything to add, especially leads on spare parts kits??
thanx

Stuff that breaks or is easy to loose.
Firing pin.
" " retaining pin.
Extractor.
" spring.
Gas rings.
Springs and pins for lower receiver.
You can get a kit of common replacement parts and add to it. A complete bolt carrier group would be nice. Good cleaning kit, sight adjustment tool, manual.

where would you go for these items?
what is a "sight adjustment tool"?
I guess Bushmaster includes a cleaning rod/brush and a manual with it's carbines?

I'd start with a complete LMT bolt and M16 carrier from Global Tactical.. $134 shipped
http://www.globaltactical.com
Next of course would be:
Extractor
Extractor spring
Extractor insert
Firing Pin
Firing Pin Retaining Pin
Gas Rings
Gas Key and screws
You can get those things at http://www.del-ton.com All the ones they carry are CMT.. which supplies just about everyone.

Sight adjustment tool is a tool that is specically made to adjust the sights without damaging them. For parts get the Brownells catalog, good place to start. www.brownells.com They are a reputable company and you can get quality parts and parts kits from them. Their catalog is also a good source of information.
www.tacticalresponsegear.com sells a lower receiver parts kit as well as some spare parts. No sense puting poor quality parts in your expensive rifle, stay away from "generic" or unknown quality parts.
