Butch 12-21-2006, 22:25 Most of them are very good quality, it pretty much comes down to personal preference. I've been using Ameriglo (http://yhst-67135114263613.stores.yahoo.net/) the last few years. The only thing 'wrong' with Glock's is that the front sight is staked on, which isn't bad, but the installation requires a special tool. Meps, Trijicon's, and Ameriglo's use a screw (and Ameriglo sends a nut driver with the sight). http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0603/ButchG17/Glock%20pics/Frontsightattachment.jpg :patriot: Tac Four 12-21-2006, 22:41 I have the Ameriglo Smooth Slope sights on my G36. I really like them a lot and the rear sight is more snag resistant. Armed Infidel 12-21-2006, 22:45 My G-23 came with factory night sights and I put Novak style Trijicons on the G-27. As far as brightness goes, I can't see any difference! Custom Glock Racing 12-21-2006, 22:47 Good quality gas tubes, poor design and light ratios. lunde 12-21-2006, 23:27 I have AmeriGlo night sights on about ten of my Glocks. Here is a photo of my setup: http://lundestudio.com/photos/lundestudio.jpg Custom Glock Racing 12-21-2006, 23:53 Ok, slightly more elaborate than my new setup. Nice midnightsmoker 12-22-2006, 01:20 First off let me say what a great site here. I've been lurking around here for a while learning as much as I can. I recently purchased a G26 at a local gun store. Great little gun, love it so far after 220 rounds. Took it to Glock Inc. in Smyrna, GA today to have some night sights put on it. Nice little compound they have over there. The guy that helped me out showed me both the factory glock night sights ($56.00 installed)and the trijis ($76.00 installed). I went with the Glocks, not to save a little money, but because I liked the way the looked better and the fact that they are crimped on opposed to screwed on. They also have a 14yr warranty on the glocks and a 12 yr with the trijis. Also I believe that they will replace free of charge if I have any problems with em.... I have read that the gns are made by meprolight for glock.... Any truth to this? I went to another building in the compound to purchase a Glock shirt, nice ladies in merchandising (SP?) threw in all kinds of free goodies. So, my first encounter with Glock's customer service has been a good one. BTW, I shoot much better than I spell... gwhuntr 12-22-2006, 15:44 If I may ask what is the difference between Trijicon & Ameriglo nite site. I see alot of people say get the Ameriglo's but they say Trijicon on them. Please clear this one up for me. Ameriglo makes the rest of the sight and inserts the insert? lunde 12-22-2006, 15:51 That's correct. AmeriGlo make their own sight bodies, and have Trijicon insert their tritium tubes into them. That's why you see Trijicon markings on the sight bodies. Mike 257 12-22-2006, 17:48 Im just wondering if I should buy a new Glock with factory installed nights sights , or buy a new one with regular sights and have night sights installed. Butch 12-22-2006, 20:24 Originally posted by Mike 257 Im just wondering if I should buy a new Glock with factory installed nights sights , or buy a new one with regular sights and have night sights installed. If you can find a new Glock for sale somewhere with factory night sights on it, there's nothing wrong with them, and it'll probably be cheaper than buying the gun and then buying the sights. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0603/ButchG17/Glock%20pics/GlockFrontNS.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0603/ButchG17/Glock%20pics/GkrearNS001.jpg More likely though, you'll have to order one, I know I've not seen many Glocks on dealer shelves with the factory NS on them. Find one, if you can, and take a look at the sights, and then compare prices. If you don't care for the factory sights, there's lots of others to pic from...... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0603/ButchG17/AmerigloSmoothOperators.jpg :patriot: gwhuntr 12-22-2006, 20:49 Butch, why do you prefer the Ameriglo's over the Trijicon's? Not trying to:deadhorse: here but would like to know why over the rest. Thanx, Butch 12-22-2006, 21:26 Originally posted by gwhuntr Butch, why do you prefer the Ameriglo's over the Trijicon's? Not trying to:deadhorse: here but would like to know why over the rest. Thanx, Good question.....no particular hard and fast reason I guess. I find them to be every bit as good as Trijicon's, and they offer a bit more variation (especially in front sight height and width) in their product line, plus they tend to be a bit easier to pay for. http://www.ameriglo.net/weapon_site/store_pages/images/serr_fronts_thin.jpg http://www.ameriglo.net/weapon_site/store_pages/images/serr_front_std.jpg http://www.ameriglo.net/weapon_site/store_pages/images/trit_fronts.jpg http://www.ameriglo.net/weapon_site/store_pages/images/gl146.jpg http://www.ameriglo.net/weapon_site/store_pages/images/gl125.jpg http://www.ameriglo.net/weapon_site/store_pages/images/rears.jpg :patriot: gwhuntr 12-23-2006, 15:00 Clears that up for me. Thanx much Butch! Merry Christmas Mike 257 12-24-2006, 21:56 Well after researching this for a week now , I decided to buy my new G26 with stock sights and then install Ameriglow Nightsights, I like the Yellow rear with the green front sight. I decided on the Ameriglows because I like the screw they use to secure the rear in place, it seems like it would be easier to adjust this sight and also to install it . The price is also cheaper than Trijicon. I also like that they have a plastic white outline instead of paint. A screw-on rear sight? Mike 257 12-25-2006, 09:47 A screw-on rear sight? Now I can't find where I read that. It was a screw that tightened it down. Butch 12-25-2006, 09:49 Originally posted by PP914 A screw-on rear sight? Some are.....some aren't. See the two allen head screws on the top of this one? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0603/ButchG17/AmerigloSmoothOperators.jpg The 'standard' GL-113's are just drifted into the dovetail. :patriot: Mike 257 12-25-2006, 10:56 This forum is great, Im glad I started comming here before I bought a Glock. I really wanted my gun to have nightsights and now that I see the others , Im not to crazy about the Glock nights sights. Lunde your pic are great, Butch thank you for your pics as well. One last question, Do I go with the .125 front or the .140 I see that the classic Ameriglow has the .140 front sight. How do I know what size to go with? lunde 12-25-2006, 11:10 Mike, What Glock model do you have? I prefer the AmeriGlo GL -115 or GL-121 night sights, for their simplicity, and which one I use depends on the Glock model. For example, my 9mm Glocks have GL-115s installed, but my most recent Glock, my OD G33, has GL-121s installed. They are the same sight, but differ in the height of the rear sight. In terms of buying only a front night sight, the 0.165-inch ones are standard, it seems. Unless you have a reason to deviate from that, that's what I would buy for myself. Mike 257 12-25-2006, 14:54 Lunde Im picking up a G26 this week, I want to use the yellow rear and green front Ameriglo. I see they make different sizes, should I shoot the gun with the stock sights and see how it shoots first , then buy the size I need to get me as accurate as possible? Do you drift in a base section, then screw the sight body to the base section? Not to hijack, just curious as to the ease of installation. TIA Butch 12-27-2006, 07:58 Originally posted by PP914 Do you drift in a base section, then screw the sight body to the base section? Yup, just slide in the base and screw the sight onto it, no tools needed except the allen wrench that comes with the sights and a little thread locker. :patriot: vBulletin® v3.7.3, Copyright ©2000-2008, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. | ![]() |
