Anyone have a permanent solution to a shiny rear sight?

In the military we used solid film lubricant, which I believe is powdered graphite in some sort of binder. The closest I've found on the open market is Perma Slick-G. Birchwood-Casey makes a product called Sight Black with which I've had some success. Having said that, I would probably use flat black Krylon as it's much easier to get.
would a few seconds with a match or lighter not work?

Carbide sight blackener. Very popular among the Highpower and other bullseye shooters.
A flat sight is easier to stare at for a long time than a shiny sight.
Brownells (http://www.brownells.com/aspx/ns/store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=6776&title=GUN+SMOKE+SIGHT+BLACKENER) has one here.
ETA, sorry, my method isn't permanent.
Maybe I should explain. I hate doing things again and again. I want to do it once and never need it again.
I saw some dull coat at the hobby store. good idea, bad idea?
Have tou tried buffingthe shine off with a little steel wool or a scotchbrite pad? Just Dry it off and hit it real light, should work. I know anytime I'm polishing flats on a 1911 just the mere mention of steel wool and I have to start over.

Dull coat would reduce the shine, but what you really need is a black surface. Why not a flat black paint marker pen?
