whats a good forearm grip/vertical grip ? I see them on here a lot and did a search but i cant seem to find names of them or who makes them . I am relatively new to AR's . I have a stock Bushy w/16 inch barrel. WHats a good and simple and affordable vertical grip to put on its forearm stock and how do they attach?

Generally they attach to a rail fore-end.
You can attach a small piece of rail to a standard foregrip, but getting a complete rail foreend system is more usual.
KAC and Tangodown, as well as others make good VFGs.

would i have to get new handguards cause i have the plain old handguards on now and i dont see how rails would hook on there , but this is all new to me .
You don't need to get a new handgard. They make small rails that attaches to the bottom of the standard handgaurd.
Here is a link to the one I have used.

Like I said, they make small rails that attach to your regular handguard if you wish to go that route for a vertical foregrip.
However since most people use a VFG in conjunction with a rail mounted light.... they generally get the rail fore-end.

You can buy a rail that screws in through the vent holes of your HG's. This is not the best setup, but should work OK.
If you want a set of drop in rails, look at Midwest Industries #17. They are high qualight, light weight and fairly priced.

C4igrant is right about the rail that attaches by the holes in the handguard.
This method works ok. It works best by allowing to figure out if you like having a rail on your gun. If you like having a VFG then get a handguard that has them already like what was suggested.
I installed a bolt- on rail on my carbine handguard and the torque used to keep the rail on tight distorted the handguard a little. The ends of handguard matched up but the middle portion was slightly separated. It wasn't a big deal. At a distance you couldn't see a difference but up close something about the grip looked funny then if pointed out you'd say "oh yeah, that's why it looks odd." I got my bolt-on rail from midwayusa for probably $15-20.
If you get a bolt on rail then go for aluminum, don't get a plastic rail. A lot of people complain about the plastic rail flexing too much when using the VFG.
A short plastic rail works, and is cheap for attaching a static device like a light or a laser.
