I hope this is the correct forum to ask this rather than smithing but since this is the Black Rifle Club...
Is there commercial gun black for scuffs to the finish of a black firearm? I have a scuff mark on my AR and also want to refinish some scuffs on some black magazine base plates.
Any AR owners out there had to touch up their rifle?
Thanks for any advice.

Scuffs on guns are like scars on men, be proud of them.
There is a product that you speak of, but I cant remember the name.
Check on Brownells website or Midway USA, in hte gunsmithing section. IIRC it is designed to work like a ink pen.

I have that paint pen. The company is called Birchwood Casey. The pen is super black flat.

The pen is near the bottom of the page.

Thanks, that's what I was looking for. I have Birchwood Casey gun blue but didn't know if they made flat black or not and my local stores only carry gun blue as far as I've found...

I ground off the sling lug on my gas block and want to blacken/cover the small area of exposed metal to prevent rusting. Would that touch up stuff work well for temps reached on a gas block/barrel? If not, what would you guys recommend for cheap alternative; high temp Krylon paint or go through the trouble of reparkerizing?
Thanks
I have had great results using brownells mattblack molly teflon bake on finish. stuff looks awsome and holds up great.
I would take off the front sight and take it apart, clean with carb cleaner/brake cleaner spray let it dry over night then throw it in the oven for 2hrs @ 300F
Engine paint works great doing the same thing. Matt black or satin black will match everything nicely.
If you have the tools you might want to remove the barrel and refinish it while the front sight is off, most barrels are not finished under the sight.
the black t holds up better if you like to get the barrel smoking tho as the engine paint will discolor a little bit, but it runs about $20 a can.
