purchased a threaded 9mm conversion barrel used. how do I determine what thread size I have?

Caliper and thread gauge work best :)
Do you have the original wrapper for the barrel with the specs on it ?
If you have an AR/M16 flash hider and it spin on, then it 1/2-28.

barrel was used and without wrapper. guess I will do it the hard way. thanks

Take a ruler hold it next to the threads, count the peaks, 28tpi is 28threads per inch. Your tpi may vary.
Diameter can be measured with a caliber.

Since you say 9mm conversion barrel I will assume the gun was not 9mm, my guess you bought a barrel for one of the cheap roller locked cz 52 pistols. If that's the case the thread is non std. that would have to be upsize adapted to fit any std. 9mm silencer.
