Glock .22lr conversion + suppressor = Reliable?

I'm curious if I put a Glock .22lr conversion on my G19/G20, will it be reliable with a suppressor on it?

We were talking about it in another thread and I figured that since the barrel was not mounted in place as is the case with the MKII, P22, and Buckmark, the weight of the suppressor would throw off the natural motion of the slide cycling.

I guess it would be just as reliable as the fixed barrels then.

I used to use my Outback on a G19 Advantage Arms kit. It would function maybe 90% of the time and FTE the other 10%. YMMV.

Suppressor weight will cause function problems, recent topic at Subguns,,, a couple of us is using steel body cans, and weight is messing with closing of the slide, as the barrel tips a wee bit in the AA units. The fellas that is using aluminum tubes report no real problems.

My AA units get dirtier faster with the supressor on.

dirtier = less reliable

You don't need an extended barrel.

Send your AA barrel off to Gemtech or other major manufacturer and have them thread it.

I'm waiting for the paperwork to go thru on a TI and I am hoping to be able to use it on most of my .22's without an adaptor. I have adaptors for my P22, S&W 422, 622, 2206 and 2213. I'll thread the rifles I want suppressed directly on the barrel. The 10/22's and 597's are easy, others may require relocation/removal of the front sight.

I can do the 1/2" x 28 thread, but I was looking for an extended barrel that I could use the can directly on the barrel and I haven't been able to find one. I read somewhere else that AA will not produce threaded barrels for the kits which is a real shame since they are a fine addtion to any Glock....a can would make it even nicer!!

If you send it off to Gemtech, will they thread to the P22 or Smith thread so you can use their adaptors?

no, no, no, Sorry I think I miss lead you.

The AA diameter is smaller than 1/2".

They will thread the pensil thin AA barrel. Add a sleeve type adapter with a standard 1/2" x 28 thread on the other end.

This threaded sleeve adapter should be left on the barrel except while cleaning the kit. (I don't even remove it when I am doing normal cleaning.) This means that your AA kit will be 1/2" longer.

If you take off the adapter and shoot you will screw up the threads on the AA barrel.

I have 2 AA kits threaded. G21 and G26. I keep the adapters on their respective barrels.

Am I making sence?

I got mine done through SWR. I think they charged 150-175 and that was a couple years ago.

Depending on how long you've been waiting, you might try calling them. I waited something like 4 or 5 months. I was very polite, but I called up the NFA branch, got transferred a few times, and then spoke to someone. She was quite cordial, put me on hold for 5 seconds, then told me she would run an in-house check on me (because my prints were held up at the FBI) and then if there were no problems, she'd send out the stamped form...I had my suppressor the next day ;)...No BS!

Now if you've been waiting a month or so, just be patient, trust me I know the feeling...it sucks!!! But it is SOOOOO worth it :thumbsup:

It's pushing 2 months pretty hard...I'll wait awhile longer and then call. TI tells me they get them back in a week sometime...other times it take 2 months or more. Go figure!!
