I'm left handed (left eye dominant) and wondering if that is a significant factor in choosing a shotgun. I'm assuming that being left handed will be a small/insignificant factor.
My only experience with firearms are my dad's 30-06 and 308 bolt action hunting rifles.
SG will be strictly for home defense, basically, only if a hurricane hits (newscasts of Katrina really did a 180* on my views of owning a firearm).
I know you should practice but I honestly know I won't practice after going to the range one or two times to first try it out.
I'm looking at the 12 gauge 590 Mariner (lots of salt in the air, top mounted safety, readily available ammo) with a Mesa Tactical saddle and a leather sling...possibly a picatinny rail. I highly doubt I'll ever mount a scope, night site or a light.
I'll probably only keep about 200-500 rds of reduced recoil 00 buck ammo on hand.
Also intend to pick up a lite-weight .38 or .22 revolver.
Any advice/recommendations would be appreciated. I'm basically concerned about ease of operation and reliability.
Gotta go, KOS (kids over shoulder).
Thanks, Tim
