Got a chance to get my new gun to the range today. Brought along 300 rnds of ammo. WWB 115gr fmj, WWB 147gr jhp, WWB 115gr jhp and Remington 100ct greenbox of 115gr jhp.
NO MALFUNCTIONS OF ANY KIND !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This little sucker ate everything I fed it without a hiccup. My biggest problem today was learning the DAO trigger. Early on I had some problems finding the target, but after about 100rnds I started hitting where I was aiming for the most part. Ran through another 100 rounds with much better success, but my wrist was really getting tired and shaky. Between loading three kahr mags at a time and the mags for my 1911 .45 and shooting both guns I could no longer hold my hand steady without loosening my grip too much. Went home with about 30rnds of the WWB 147gr JHP, which will likely become my carry ammo. I do want to run another 100 of those through the CW before I commit but from what I saw today I'm confident it should pass with flying colors.
Next range session I will leave the .45 home so I can concentrate on the Kahrs trigger exclusively. I must say though, at this point I shoot the 1911 much better than the kahr. Its a Bul M-5 commander (exact same gun as the Kimber polymer Pro Carry) and I'm always blown away on how accurate the pistol is. Incredible trigger right out of the box. Breaks at about 4.5 pounds with no creep. Very easy gun to shoot well. The Kahr is very, very different to shoot. When I did my part though, it shot to point of aim, so I know the gun is very accurate. I just need to practice with it. Today I was more interested in getting the maximum number of rounds through it to break it in. Does anyone know of a magazine loader thing being available for the kahr mags? Loading them is more work tham the double stack .45 zines. A LOT more.
Anyway, 270 or so rounds and no issues of any kind other than the trigger pins set pin working its way out a little. I simply used a drift to push it back in.
At this point I am totally satisfied with my new CW9 and how well the little gun is put together.
Good job Kahr!!
