i am considering sending a colt series 70 i have had for a while to novak and make it into a combat 1911. i figure that buy the time im done with it, it will be around 1200-1300, just in the work done by novak. i then go to thinking that i could have another gun for that much money. if you suggest a new gun what would it be.

How about sending it to Yost-Bonitz for their 1* package?
That's a nice simple package that will still keep your Colt looking original.
The cost is $995 on your own gun.

You'll have a much better gun with the custom work from Novaks or Yobo than you would by going with a Springer Loaded or a Kimber. It'll shoot and handle much better.

does one company (yobo) have any adavantages over the other (Novak). is one better work than the other, better service/ turnaround time?
I'd send it here: www.triangleshootingsports.com Benny Hill Is the gunsmith. Reasonable prices and fast turnaround.
