After about 100 rounds between 2 mags, I noticed that a piece of plastic seems to have broken off of this new mag. Its breakage does not affect to the gun or the mag’s performance; it just scares me to use it to carry. Not sure if it is a mag that came with the gun (CW9) or the one I bought at a local store. I will be contacting Kahr to see if it is covered under the warranty of the gun.

This seems to be happening pretty frequently... Call Kahr, let them know you have a broken follower in your magazine(s). They will send you out new ones no questions asked... replacing them is pretty simple, but make sure you get the magazine spring in the right way.

Talked to Dottie at Kahr, she is sending me a replacement follower out and an extra once just incase I have a problem again. It seems like Kahr really takes care of thier customers!
Jonboy,
I have had about 6 of these fail on mags for my PM40. Dottie said that they would redesign them.......the redesign did not go well and they would be changing the formulation of the plastic.
We will have to see. That photo is exactly what happened to all of mine and it can jam the mag.

PS. Kahr sent me new followers no problem with that, but the failure does worry me. You might want to make sure the broken peice is not still in the mag.

I had 2 followers break and also a mag that split on both sides (at the top rear) on my P45.
The replacement parts have held up well so far. (150-200 rds)

I just had the follower on my new PM9's 7 round magazine split in half horizontally below the metal tab. I talked to Richard at Kahr and they have redisgned the followers on the 7 round mags due to their vendor's reformulation of the polymer. This issue doesn't affect the 6 round magazines for some reason. The new followers should be in stock around Valentine's Day.
Are the magazines still servicable if you remove the broken piece?
Hmm....I have two 6 rounders, three 7 rounders, and two 8 rounders and haven't had any problems with them through 1k rounds.

You probably have 7 rd. magazines with followers made of the older polymer formulation. I was told the 6 round magazines aren't affected.
