Hello. New guy here:wavey: I just bought a G20 with my Xmas money. I've been wanting one for awhile, and I've been researching the crap out of these things. I've been looking into getting an aftermarket barrel 5.5"-6" long so I can take it hunting. Well,I came across one from Numrich thats threaded on the end made by Rem Sport Manufacturing. Has anyone ever heard of them? I like it for the $99 price and the threads. I would like to make my own flash hider or compensator for it.(Maybe a supressor someday if I hit the lottery). I just don't want a piece of junk. Also are the factory Glock barrels carbon or stainless steel? Thanks for all the great info on this site.

Welcome to the community my friend. I hate to trample on your thread like this, but I have a barrel question of my own. If I could answer your question I would, but all I have to say really is that its not from the big 3 barrel manufacturers, so I would suggest staying away from it. Im sure someone else knows more about it.
Ok, here is mine. Both my 20 and 29 are still using factory barrels. I like to shoot the hot stuff all the time so Im considering getting KKM barrels for both. Does KKM's barrels offer full case support that glock does not? Full case support is what im looking for, Im just hoping it still chambers reliably as well. Thanks for input.

I have heard of Rem Sport only through Ebay as I see some of their stuff on there from time to time. I know nothing of their quality and that is too hard to judge from pictures alone (of course). I will say that I bought a Federal brand barrel for my G20 in .357 Sig and in my limited use of it will say that it has served me well. I think that brand has been discontinued, but if not Lone Wolf used to carry them. I mention Federal only because they are/were certainly not a name I would think of when thinking barrels. I believe they were Korean or something like that. That sounds wierd but I believe I read that here.
You can always try them and see, but I believe KKM is around $150 (haven't checked in about 3 years though) so the savings won't mean much if the barrel sucks. Sometimes it is hard to quiet the bargain hound inside us but it can prevent heartache & wasted money down the road. The factory barrels are a chrome-moly steel.
Bravo-Four,
KKM barrels do have more case support than the factory barrel. I do not know if it is the same amount of support as Bar-Sto and as I said above it has been many years since I looked at a KKM but the big draw to the KKM was always that it had full case support but was about $50 less than the Bar-Sto. In addition, if Bar-Sto does not have a barrel in stock plan on a long to very long wait.

I would stay away from the Rem sport, as I've never even heard of them. I been very satisfied with the 6 inch Stormlake barrels in both my G24 and G20. They give excellent casehead support, are very tight fitting and more accurate than I'll ever be.
Ditto on the Storm Lake Barrels.

Thanks for all of your replys. That's kind of what I thought, probably not all that good. I just really want a threaded barrel to make my own comp (I'm a machinist by trade).

You might just e mail Adam at Storm Lake Machine from their web site (www.stormlakemachine.com) and ask if they would thread one of their barrels for you. Seems like I have seen threaded barrels listed on their products page before....unless you wanted to do your own threading too.
Storm Lake keeps a spot on E bay for their barrels, and this is what they have posted:
All Storm Lake barrels are machined from solid barstock. We offer barrels in many different configurations from a 5" drop-in to a supported ramp oversize threaded bull barrel. Tolerances are held within +/-.001 or closer in critical areas. For more information, see www.stormlakebarrel.com
So if you wanted oversize which you could hand fit etc. etc., I imagine Adam could help you with that without a long wait.
