anyone use a heavier than stock recoil spring setup for their 357sig? i hear a lot about frame punishment from hot loads, seems that a heavy spring/DPM setup would be a good thing to tame recoil.
Well, people say that.
But I have not seen the frame problems.
My first G31/33 date from early 1998.
1,000s of rounds later...

I installed a 24lb spring in my G31 a few years ago. Put a couple thousand through the gun before and since. I don't think it made much if any difference. I've heard the frame battering issue and how a heavy spring reduces it. Then I heard if you reduce the slide velocity going backwards it will slam harder when going back forward into battery.....? Who's right? If I had to do it all over again, I'd save my money and buy more ammo with it:)
Won't it slam just as hard forward as back because ALL the spring does is store the energy of the compression? It may lose a little energy due to inefficiency and the browning action tilting and opening and closing. SO it probably moves forward with less energy.
