View Full Version : Kimber Problems
about 2 weeks ago I bought a Kimber pro tle/rl II despite some concerns I had with Kimber products. Well after about 500 rds the gun had about 20 FTE's!! It has the internal extractor so I thought I'd be somewhat problem free.
The problem is that the empty shells will get caught in the ejection port and the slide will shut on the empty shell. I have to manually remove the shell and reload. Casing also have a tendancy to fly at my head. Any ideas on what the problem is???
Thanks for any help
Check the extractor tension. Do the shake test with a live round. Adjust the extractor if it's too loose.

I'd be checking how you're holding the gun if casings are hitting you in the head...

firing pin stop. If it is too loose, the extractor can turn (clocking). If it turns too much then the casing is in its "tooth" at an angle and gets stuck against the breech face. I learned of this possibility trouble shooting my Kimber Custom Shop special edition.

Faris13, you've got a classic case of extractor clocking (rotation inside its channel). SoonerPast nailed it. Remdy: take it to a local smith, return it to Kimber for service or buy a EGW oversized stop and fit it yourself.
My sister holds my 1911s like a girl and none of the flying brass comes near her head.

Yea I actually sent it in to be worked on... hopefully it's just a one time problem since I love the gun.
My grip should be fine since the Glock 30 and Uspc .357sig I shoot never eject casings at my face. Well I really appreciate the help guys, I'll let you know what happens when I get the gun back.
Did you check the extractor tension before you shipped it off?
I was going to but Dennis told me to ship it back and figured that I should just get it sent in before I tinker with it and mess it all up.
