View Full Version : Remington UMC 115 Gr JHP
Just went to Walmart to pick up a box of WWB 115 gr JHP. It was going to run about $12.95 for 50. I found this Remington UMC 115 gr JHP "L9MM1B" Box of 100 for $17. Its mostly going to be for woods carry "popping armodillos and such" in my G19 but everything doubles as a carry round.
Anyone know anything about this stuff? I've never shot it.
I shot about 2 mags of the stuff yesterday, just because that's what was in them. I bought is for the same reason you did---Wally World didn't have any other cheap JHP. About all I can tell you is it goes boom. Don't know about accuracy or anything else.

Thanks for the quick reply. Now I know it at least fullfills the main requirement of a defensive round.

Sorry I can't tell you more. I shot over 500 rounds of 7 different types of ammo, from 2 different pistols, 2 different rifles, and a shotgun yesterday.:)
Maybe someone else has some info?
Oh I was not downplaying your post. I was glad to hear it didn't have any misfires. I had some UMC 124 gr FMJ before but I've never seen this 115 gr JHP and I bought it only because of the price.

Didn't think you were:) . I still have about 60 rounds of this 9mm JHP left, and I have the same flavor in 45ACP.
I'm interested in other replies as well. Where are you at in Louisiana? I'm up in Fort Puke--I mean Polk now.
Natchitoches - I spent a warm summer at Polk a very long time ago.
I bought 500 rounds of the Remington UMC 115gr JHP from Wal-mart and have shot through 200 rounds of it (the rest have been either WWB or UMC 115gr. FMJ).
Those 200 rounds of the UMC 115gr. JHP have been flawless. I also used the ammo to qualify for my TX CHL (50 rounds) scoring 250/250.
No first hand expansion data, but reliablity and accuracy have been great.
Gun used was a GLOCK 17.
Thank you ZigZag. Thats what I wanted to hear. I feel a lot better now and may get some more. I didn't think there was any name brand JHP cheaper then WWB.

I've shot many 100 round boxes of Rem UMC JHP 115 grain 9mm and 180 grain .40 S&W that I bought at Wal-Mart. Lots of flash, but reliable and accurate. :)

It's pretty much average cheap 9mm ammo.
I have had one round with a dud primer. There is definately a good dent, but the round just wouldn't go off. That's really the only problem that I've had in over 3000 rounds. I've lost count of how much of it I've shot because the local indoor range sells it, and I've bought lots of it on sale from Dick's Sports.

Yep and also a bit dirtier than WWB. I found it to be just as accurate though...and in a pinch should work just as good.

Has a bright flash.
Barel gel: 10.6 inches/.56 caliber (fragmented)

Plywood: 26.25/.36
Give or take a bit from lot to lot of course...
