Just got back from the gunshop, and a German Mak made the trip home with me. The gun I purchased is stamped "MFG GERMANY", "CAI ST ALB VT" and has a "K100" inside of a rectangular box. It also has the appropriate circle inside of a diamond stamp, which I believe signifies East German Manufacture. The year of manufacture is '61.
The gun is probably in 93% condition. It has no real scratches, just some honest wear to the blued finish. There is no rust and the bore shines bright. The price was $200., which included 8 (eight!) magazines, a plastic mag loader, a cheap hard pistol case, and a Don Hume #59 belt holster (certainly not the original holster...but WAY more practical for CCW than any military flap style holster!) The frame & slide have matching serial #'s, while many of the smaller parts have electro-penciled #'s that do not match. Is this normal?
Based on what I've been seeing lately, the $200. price tag seemed very reasonable. Heck, I could probably sell 6 of the mags along with the holster on EBay for $75. or so, and I'd own this German pistola for $125. ;) I can't wait to shoot it.

Since the supply pipeline has dried up--for now at least--you did fine at that price, especially with the extra goodies. Personally I'd keep the magazines; seems like having them makes it easier to take a particular gun to the range, and get more shooting in with it. And, if you sold them now and wanted to get more later, you have that same "dry pipeline " problem to deal with.

Congrats Russ.
Sounds like a great deal. Good for you!
I am glad that a few good deals can still be found. Curious, where in PA are you? I am in SE PA and gave up looking locally. I got sick of the gun shop wingnuts saying that yes they do have maks.....ending up being P-64s. UGH!!!!!!

Mr. T,
I'm in Lancaster. The subject gun was found @ Encks's Gun Barn in Newmanstown (just off of Route 897...maybe 10 miles due west of Reading). Mr. Enck remarked that he'd had the gun a while...
I've been watching for a decent Mak for quite a while. I see them for fair prices pretty often, but this one seemed like too good a deal to pass up. I forgot to mention the gun came with 24 rounds of Hornady self defense ammo. :)

Sheesh ... what a deal. If the store was willing to sell all of that for $200 (BTW, I'll give you $225), what did they buy it for?
I agree, keep the magazines. They are also going up in price.
You stole it...

The East German MAK own, bought back when they were pleantiful and "cheap" @ ca. $150.00 also has the "K100" above the trigger on the left side with "circle/diamond" just in front of it. {C/Diamond also on slide behind safety lever}
The MAK 9X18 Germany with importer's name below in quite small letters is on right rear of frame just below last rear slide rack groove. This one is of '62 mfg. Also has the odd looking lg. "V" top "Y" proof with 4 radian dots beginning at 9 O'Clock below date stamp.
Only other distingushing feature is raised rib sighting plane on slide that is serrated lengthwise then crosshatched.
Used to be able to buy used mags for a buck a pop if 10 or over but hardly anything like that now! You came across an exc. deal, make sure to test ALL of them well, before thinking of selling ANY!
Trigger on it is Superb, FWIW.......

The K100 and the diamond stamp are proofmarks.

I have two East Deutsch Maks. They are nice, but for carry, I prefer the Bulgarian.

Any particular reason for this??? I found the trigger on the EG much better than the Bulgarians. Function, accuracy and reliability were comparable.

I'd say it's a good deal except I paid $100 for my EG.. years ago. My Bulgie cost a bit more than $200! Still, with all those mags, I'd be real satisfied with that EG.

No doubt about it, fate smiled on you. If you ever decide to sell it you will certainly get your investment back but then why sell an EG?
