View Full Version : stain;ess vaquero finish question
lately, i have seen a couple of stainless vaqueros that have a totally polished finish, very near to nickel appearance. i have not run across one of these for sale. all the ones i have found have a more "natural" looking finish. is the high polish available from ruger, or are folks polishing the regular stainless ones theirselves? has any one here polished one?
thanks,
ed

ALL, 'old model' and 'new model' Vaqueros, are either Blued, or Stainless. The latter, (that Ruger calls 'stainless'), is so, but they place a very high nickel apperance to it "at the factory." This is to give it the apperance of the 'original SA Colt.' Only difference really is that the plated type finish on the original SA Colts and S&W's of the late 1800's would chip or flake. The finish on the Vaquero NEVER will, it will remain 'nickel looking,' forever.
So, Yes, the nickel finish 'Vaquero,' is available from Ruger, cause it is the 'only' way they make them, other than blued.

Mine came with the polished stainless finish ~5 years ago.
