View Full Version : para/carry9 ? vs Kahr
I see Para has a new 9mm the carry9 looks to be some competition for the Kahrs. 3 inch barrel 9 ROUNDS 24 ounces
??? life time service ???? what ever that means.
looks nice and it is small.
The TP9 has slightly smaller overall dimensions, is 6 ozs lighter, and has a 4" barrel. And Kahr has five other series that are even smaller.
For people looking for micro CCW's, it's hard to beat Kahr.

None of my shooting friends have ever owned a Para so I'm not in position to say how good they might be. I have read some decent reviews of them in the various gun magazines that I buy from time to time.
Having said that, while the Para Carry 9 appears to be a nice pistol that is concealable, the P9 is smaller and lighter; the PM9 even more so. I occasionally carry my G19, however, that thing feels like a 1972 Chrysler New Yorker compared to my P9 which disappears on me. The P9 is 7 + 1 so it's not giving up much fire power for its size. The previous poster indicated that the T9 is smaller and lighter than the Carry 9, and the T9 has a steel frame (cast).

I own a Para Carry in 45 and I will admit its a small 45 and the trigger is great. The Carry 9 is very close to the K 9 and it could give Kahr a run for its money. The plus for the Carry 9 is alot more holsters and etc. such for a 1911 will work for it. Kahr has a very limited asserories(spelling stinks this morning)

Para Carry 9 should be compared to Kahr MK 9 since both pistols are all metal. The difference, of course, is that the Kahr is all steel and Carry 9 has an aluminum frame.
Dimensionally Kahr MK9 wins on almost all fronts. It is 1.2 inch shorter in overall length and 0.75 shorter in hight, only one ounce heavier than Para.
With an extended magazine Kahr holds one less cartridge (not much of a difference)
Last SHOT Show I handled it, tried the trigger and I liked it, although not nearly as much as I liked the new Para Carry in 45 GAP. Now, that is the winner, but again that also is an entirely different story.
I look at it this way. With Kahr, you're either getting a longer barrel in a slightly smaller package than the Carry 9, or you're getting the same barrel length in a much smaller package. And if you opt for a polymer model, you're getting a huge weight savings too. Of course, the Carry 9 has the edge in mag capacity, but that's what spare mags are for.
Nothing against Para, but just looking at it strictly as a size comparison, Kahr would be the winner. Kahr seems to be the company to beat when it comes to efficient use of size. For me personally, that's why I was attracted to them when shopping for a new CCW. I wanted something small, light, and ultra-concealable. I just think Kahr fills that niche better than anyone.
