I got a new set of grips for my TLE for Christmas and upon switching out the old ones, one of the bushings backed out with the screw. I put lok-tite on the bushing and ran it back in hoping it would stay and the screw would come out...it didn't.
How am I going to save the old grip/bushing? Do I have to get a new screw and bushing and try to drill out the old one? Open for any ideas. Thanks.

Must be a Kimber thing, as the same thing happened with my Custom II...
I got the screw out of the bushing with small pliers and a screw driver, but I stripped part of the bushing in process. I was able to get the bushing back in, but not all the way, and the grip screw is elevated a little---it's really not bad---just barely noticeable. At this point it doesn't make any difference, but if I take the grips back off, I'm pretty sure the same thing will happen. I'll replace it eventually...
Good luck!

Looks like I'll be getting one from brownells.

Happens quite often. If worse comes to worst, Brownell's has a kit where you can retap the threads in the frame and install a slightly larger bushing.
Pulled the grips off my Kimber PCII this evening for the first time and had the exact same thing happen. Only one screw, though.
I put some blue locktite on and will try to get just the screw out tomorrow; if it doesn't work not I'll just have to order a new bushing/screw set.
I was planning on doing a complete detail teardown (first time with this new gun) but decided against it (I've found problems come in threes; first the bushing, then a grip screw rolled under the 'fridge, didn't want to take a chance with anything else today! :)

Fredman, PM me with your address and I'll send you a bushing. I had to buy a whole set from brownells plus shipping. I can put one in an envelope and save you the trouble.

Did that with mine, to remove the grip screws I just held the grip down firmly with my hand while loosing the screw. keeps the bushing from rising and just the screw will loosen. Id rather not cement the thing in place just in the unlikely but probable event that the bushing becomes stripped in the future.

I've had luck doing similar, though instead of pushing straight down on the grip I pushed it down and forward which helped the grip put a little bite on the bushing. It'll work sometimes but not always. I also like using a dab of blue loc-tite on the bushing.
Also it's not a bad idea to order a few extra bushings the next time you order from Brownells or other supplier. That way if you do bugger one up you'll be able to fix your gun without waiting for a cheap part.
I just picked up my new Kimber Custom II last night. This morning I cleaned the factory out of it and the same thing happened on one screw and bushing. It came out in the grip panel. I just put it back and will leave it that way.

I decided to see what Kimber would do, so I sent an email stating my problem. It being an unfired new gun I would expect them to send a new screw and bushing....we'll see.
I had several slot head screw/bushing sets in my parts box so I changed all of them. Ofcourse, getting the bad ones out of the grip panel ruined the Kimber bushing.
And got the bushing in from Hole Shot today. Problem solved. Thanks so much!!
Also ran 150 hardball and 29 JHPs through her today; round count is now 509 with not the slightest little hiccup. She's going to be my carry for a while...
