Any thoughts on which night sights may be better. I have looked at TRUGLO (TFO) and Tritium Brite•Site. Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks drod 12-31-2006, 13:08 I just got Glock night sights installed on my G30. The price is right, and they will do it for your in Smyrna. I drove down and waited while they did mine, but you can send your gun to them. They will turn it around in one day. Scrappy 12-31-2006, 16:16 Meprolights! TexasPOff 12-31-2006, 16:25 AmeriGlo classic, or operators...In my opinion they are better than Trijicons, because of customer service, and price. rich52us 12-31-2006, 16:27 Originally posted by arraz Any thoughts on which night sights may be better. I can get them installed at a gun show by a Glock armorer for $100.00. I hear they are good both in daytime, partial light, and no light. Any experience? djl240 12-31-2006, 16:29 Originally posted by Scrappy Meprolights! +1  Blitzo 12-31-2006, 16:29 I guess there is no BETTER night sight as with everything else firearms related. Check out a couple different styles out there and stick to a name brand. I personally like Mepro. GlockPride 12-31-2006, 16:30 I have trijicons, mepros, and sig lites. Meprolights are the brightest! Glock19ster 12-31-2006, 16:45 Just got a GLOCK 17 and fired it for the first time a few days ago. The trijicon nite sites are AMAZING. Bogey 12-31-2006, 17:10 I have Heine straight 8 sights on my 17 and 21. Still up in the air on the 30, but leaning toward the Mepros...bright at night, and easy to see in the day. Dadgum it Drod, I should have given you my G30 to take down with you to Smyrna.....I have a frame swap I need to do... kraigster414 12-31-2006, 17:22 From a quality, functionality, and length of service standpoint (and I have tried virtually all of them) nothing IMHO compares with the Heinie. Right up there is the Warren Tactical and I give high marks to Novak, Wilson, and Trijicon despite the latter's lack of brightness for older eyes. These are professional sights for folks who carry a weapon for a living. Now I better run before the first bullets fly. :) Seriously, I have tried a myriad of night sights from Mepros to TruGlos to Ameriglos to factory, and I have boiled it down to Heinie and Warren. I get my sights at www.pistolgear.com - great folks to deal with. DeeZee 12-31-2006, 17:25 Arraz, I couldnt be any happier with my Tru-Glo's on my 30. On the other hand, I have the stock plastic sights on my 19 that I cant complain about either. Now that I think about it....I need another set of TFO's for the 19  . Happy New Year guys danielsand 12-31-2006, 17:47 I am using Ameriglo Ghost Ring on my G22, and I like them a lot. Bright enough for my old eyes and quick target aquisition in the daytime. jstforme 12-31-2006, 18:23 +1 on warren tacticals...skeletonized black rear with tritium front is what i just ordered. i cant wait!!! kraigster414 12-31-2006, 18:39 Originally posted by jstforme +1 on warren tacticals...skeletonized black rear with tritium front is what i just ordered. i cant wait!!! That's what I have on my G27. When I get my new G32, the first thing I am going to do is put Warren Tacticals or Heinie Straight 8's on them. These sights are intended for serious use. divartydad 12-31-2006, 19:02 I have Mepro on my 22 and True Glo TFO on my 27. NOTV8 12-31-2006, 19:52 I got TFO's on all my glock. Will never use anything else. Good luck on your search. Jakemug 12-31-2006, 20:35 Trijicons on my Police Beretta 92-very bright but expensive (Came on gun from factory though) Tru-Dots on my G23-very bright don't know how much they cost Glock night sites on my G27-extremely bright and only $65 installed if you take your gun to Glock. My G17 is at Glock right now waiting on a fresh set as well. For the money, the Glock sights are great. Tac Four 12-31-2006, 20:41 I like the Ameriglo Smooth Slope sights. The rear sight is more snag resistant. The Ameriglos use Trijicon lamps and they ship with the front sight tool. They're easy to see in the dark and the white outlines work well in daylight. You can also get a good GSSF discount on the Ameriglos. thomjb 12-31-2006, 20:53 Meprolight for the front sight only. Thom Vigilant 12-31-2006, 20:54 I'll stick with yellow/green Mep Tru Dots. They work well for me in all levels of light. I have two G22s and one G19 at this point, with identical sights on all three, even though one G22 is primarily a range gun/spare. I'm thinking seriously about going with yellow/green Trijicons on my two 870Ps also. MOHAA Player 12-31-2006, 20:54 Originally posted by Scrappy Meprolights! Always use Meps or Trijicon:thumbsup: Pismo 01-01-2007, 09:17 I'm sold on getting TFO's for my G23 when it comes in next week. The only drawback I can see is that TFO's don't have the 10-12 year warranty that the other big brands have (only a 90 day warranty). Are TFO's pretty reliable? Anyone have problems with their TFO's after the warranty has expired? I'm thinking of getting green fronts, yellow rears. 10mm4ever 01-01-2007, 09:28 Tru-Dots on my G23. Bob Lindell 01-01-2007, 10:12 I'm near-sighted and wear glasses continuiously. The eye's aren't going to get any better. For my Model 30 I've been considering Heinie Straight 8's, the XS 24/7 either standard or Big Dot, or the green/yellow Mepros. Any eyeglass wearer's with experience? Thanks and Happy New Year. drod 01-01-2007, 12:21 Originally posted by Bob Lindell I'm near-sighted and wear glasses continuiously. Any eyeglass wearer's with experience? Thanks and Happy New Year. I have worn glasses for years (except when I wore contacts). I recently had to change to bifocals. I wear the transition bifocals with a high quality antireflective coating. . My G26 has Meps, and my G30 has Glock night sights. I have no problem with either. tpr7304 01-01-2007, 12:24 Trijicon on my G23 and G19. slow ride 01-01-2007, 12:47 Trijicon on my G22, and G27. Easy to install with Glock rear sight tool, 3/16 nut driver, and some loc-tite. (red, very little) army_eod 01-13-2007, 14:09 Originally posted by jstforme +1 on warren tacticals...skeletonized black rear with tritium front is what i just ordered. i cant wait!!! Hey..I am waiting on my set of same. Did you get yours yet? How big is the white front dot? rich52us 01-13-2007, 14:17 Originally posted by arraz Any thoughts on which night sights may be better. I have looked at TRUGLO (TFO) and Tritium Brite•Site. Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks I just got a set of TFOs on my G 30. I tried them out in a dark room and the sight picture is great. I like the fact that they are good in bright light, total darkness, and anywhere in between. I'll let you know how they are at the range when I go. Mike Wood 01-16-2007, 00:11 I just took Novak's off my G34- they absolutely SUCK, I will sell them for a fraction of their cost if anyone wants them. I don't like bad mouthing a product like that but I ordered the so called "wide notch" rear and the most narrow front they offered and what I got was a set of sights that had VERY LITTLE daylight around the front sight and the front sight was a sloppy fit in the slide making it cock when tightened. In the past I've used Novak's that were decent but the ones I just got were pure crap. They weren't even of the correct dimensions. I replaced these with the excellent Warren Tactical with a 3 dot tritium configuration (2 yellow/green front) this works perfect because yellow tritium isn't as bright as green and it makes the front dot stand out more. In daylight I've got a nice clean black sight picture with PLENTY of daylight around the front sight. They're very fast and precise at long distances also. They also fit the slide.... midnightsmoker 01-20-2007, 14:39 Hey there... I just had the Truglo TFO's installed on my new G30 today. I ordered them online from Dallas Tactical for $80. and had them installed at one of the local gun shops for $10..... First impression is I love these things. I have a G26 and G27, both of which I had Glock Factory Night Sights installed BY GLOCK in Smyrna. Glock factory NS tritium inserts are made by Meprolight. I just did a side by side comparison in the almost total darkness and I'd say their pretty even. The glocks might be a tiny bit brighter but I'd say to the average eye, no difference at all. In light or dim light situations, the TFO's win hands down. The fiber optic part of the sights kicks in and really brightens them up. I don't want to get my hopes' up, but if these are as good as I hope they are, I'll be putting them on all my guns..... I'd say give the TFO's a try. rich52us 01-20-2007, 15:01 I had my G 30 to the range last week with the new TFOs. They were great at the range. I also tried them at home in a dark and semi dark room and the are good visible and good under all lighting conditions. ryan_kalani 01-20-2007, 15:57 The TFOS may be bright in most conditions. Are they durable though? I have heard about the tubes coming out from enough people to make me concerned about their quality control. Mike Wood 01-20-2007, 19:37 I have the TFO's on one of my XD's and I really like them. I haven't used them much in competition but I've used them some and they are way visible in all light with the fiber optics glaring at you in the light and also in the dark. Great carry sights. Tritium and Fiber optics is just a great idea. But a bit delicate. The tubes can come out and it's happened to other people at my club during IDPA but it's not a big issue, they're cheap too replace and the sights still work without them. The only thing I don't like about them is unlike the Warren/Sevigny sights they don't have enough daylight showing around the front sight. If your using the FO dots to shoot with you'll be fine on quick & dirty stuff but you will suffer on precision shots which is why I prefer the Warrens. I don't know WHY most of these sight makers do not cut their sights wide enough. I'd like to see Warren's with TFO technology. USDefender 01-22-2007, 14:08 One more vote for Mepros. I'm shocked at how much I love 'em... They glow forever & they make spotting my pistol in the dark (when I'm getting out of bed to investigate a 'bump') much easier & less clumsy. The price wasn't all that bad either. Cobra64 01-24-2007, 00:10 Originally posted by arraz Any thoughts on which night sights may be better. I have looked at TRUGLO (TFO) and Tritium Brite•Site.
