Hey guys,
Ran into a little trouble installing an Ameriglo rear sight on my G17. Front went on no problem, but my rear sight is stuck half-way onto the slide.
I'm in the middle of starting a PCS, so I'm pretty much stuck with a punch and a hammer. I've been trying to drift the sight in, but I really don't feel I can get it any further without damaging either the weapon or the sight. The sight is correct for the weapon, of course. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
Indulge me a minute, please...
Did the set come with installation tools?
Did the set come with installation instructions?
Are there set screws in the rear sight?
Is there any Loc-Tite involved at this point?

Are you putting sight in from right side.
Do you have it facing in the right direction (front of sight facing forward).
Take it out and put a drop of oil in dovetail or rub on sight.
If none of this helps, I have rubbed the bottom of sight on sandpaper. Take it easy as you can't put it back on.

Sorry so long in responding guys, work's been a little on the busy side.
Been trying to drift the sight on from the left side, so if I manage to get the thing off, drifting from the right may be helpful?
No installation instructions present, only a nut driver for the front sight that worked beautifully.
The rear sight is facing the correct direction, with the tritium inserts facing the rear of the weapon. No set screws in the rear sight, no loc-tite involved.
Thanks,

Glock's rear sight cuts are tapered to be tighter toward center and I suspect you are there. There are several things you can do at this point but the easiest may be just to drop by somewhere close to you (if possible) that can use a sight pusher to finish the job. If it's halfway into the dovetail you can bet a pusher will finish the job.
Otherwise, you will probably have to remove the sight to try from the other side and failing that, remove a little metal. My G17's Ameriglo rear was very tight even using a pusher.

The same thing happened to me yesterday with a pair of Mep's I installed on my G32. I sucked it up and went to the gunshop and had it finished with thier sight pusher. I also bought some expensive ammo, so they didn't charge me for it.

Well guys, problem solved. Took it to a fabulous shop in Santa Maria, CA called "The Rangemaster." They had a tough time getting the sight on with their dedicated tool, pretty tight fit. Super friendly folks, didn't charge me a dime, a definite A+ shop/range.
I seriously doubt I would have been able to finish putting the sight on my weapon without some help. Thanks again for all the input.
