I checked the excellent Serial Number Research Project thread, but did not see anything about this.
There are tiny numbers stamped on the left side of the barrel lug of my G20:

There are also numbers stamped on the inside of the slide:

This is a 3rd generation G20 with a serial number prefix of FED. I am wondering if the "0392" on the barrel might mean September 2nd, 2003, and the "0381" on the slide August 1st, 2003? Any ideas?
It's also interesting that "834" appears two times on the slide.
Hmmmmmmmmm
I will have to check mine when I get home.

is this what you are refering to? This is in the info of value thread.
Also the numbers you refer to could be a assembly number to match the main components, or inspectors stamp.
Nice pics by the way.
The 3 letters represent the barrel test fire date code:
The first letter is for the month:
E...Jan
L...Feb
N...Mar
B...Apr
S...May
Z...Jun
G...Jul
P...Aug
I...Sep
C...Oct
V...Nov
A...Dec
The last two letters are for the year:
O...0
W...1
K...2
R...3
F...4
M...5
H...6
Y...7
T...8
D...9

I appreciate your reply. However, as you can see, these are numbers, not letters. I have not found any kind of a letter code on any Glock components.
Thanks!

Vulcan:
Your thread prompted me to check my G20 and I found similar tiny numbers, but in a different place on the barrel. The numbers on my barrel are on the underside of the lug on the flat part where the lug meets the cylindrical barrel portion. The numbers on the slide I think are in the same place--the rear, left side of the underside of the slide. Here are my numbers:
Anybody know what these mean?:

or perhaps these?:

I can't tell if that first numeral on the barrel numbers is a light hit for a "0" or if it's some funky, upside down and backwards "J".
I think it's a light strike on a "0", however, if I had to guess.

Hey, while I'm feeling somewhat artisitic and I've got the macro lens out, here's a little 10mm, fine art photography for y'all:

I was in Academy Sports this evening and examined a G22. The 4 digit set of numbers on the bottom of the slide was "0532". Can't remember the serial number prefix, but it started with H. So maybe March 2nd, 2005?
