Question for those of you who install(ed) your own night sights...I know a drop of Loctite needs to be applied to the front sight screw, but how about the rear sight?

I've installed a set of Mep's on my G19 and simply "pushed" the rear into the dovetail via an MGW pusher. It seems secure enough. It even stayed in place during a 200 round session to check my sight alignment.

Am I worrying about a non-issue? Or do UN-loctited rear sights evenually work loose?

Inquiring minds wanna know?

In short they can, but it is not a common problem. What is more common is that the rear sight gets bumped and moves slightly remember a lateral movment that you can hadly see can put shots way off center. A drop of loctight will not hurt any thing and it is a bit odf extra insurance. BTW FWIW I have had rear sights move from sitting in my patrol car and the seat belt rubbing across it.

I never used loc-tite on any of my rear sights. Actually, I don't know of anyone here that does. Although it may get loose, I personally feel that it's not necessary. The dovetail on the slide is pretty tight so that should keep the sight in place. If your front is a screw type then I'd recommend you put a drop at least. And even with that, just use the blue loc-tite.
