View Full Version : Nova extention
I shoot heavy metal division in 3-gun. I really like the Nova. Just stuck a remington mag extention on. All you need to do is trim the opening of the Nova mag tube back until it reaches the threads (used a dremel) and the Remington extention screwed right on. Same threads. I now have a 9+1 pump. Have to put in a two round plug to be legal in some of the matches.

I used tacstar's tube, finish and fit was fine in my book.

That looks great! Looks almost stock like the one I have on my Nova. I found one years ago on Gunbroker. Did it come with the extended spring?

Yep, it came with a spring.
You can fit 7 2 3/4" rounds in the tube, I believe I will do some thinking and insert a plug into the extention to limit it to 6. The spring gets compressed nearly to the point of binding which is mighty hard on the spring.

Nice shotgun lumberjack! I was ready to order the same for my yet unfired Nova and suddenly this question. Is the barrel clamp a needed accessory? TIA.

A clamp isn't a bad idea although, I don't think its a big deal. If I get the notion and could find one that will fit right in front of the front sight, that's likely what I would do.
I would highly recommend a Limb Saver Recoil pad with any high powered light weight gun. Makes a WORLD of difference. My next mods is going to be a mercury recoil reducer and a cut to length plug to keep from overloading the tube and damaging the spring. I don't want to have to count shells as I load them.
A Super Nova is also in the works.

Correct me if I am wrong but would not modifiying an imported semiautomatic shotgun to hold more than 5 rds in a fixed or detachable magazine be a violation of Sec 922R.... ie modifying an imported shotgun into a configuration banned from import...this law aplies to all imported semiauto LONG-GUNS... This is why they do not import >5rd Saiga shotgun mags...

Interesting point you raise though, and I think this might be one of those wacky deals where it might be legal if the mag extension on a semi would be imported or domestically manufactured. Perhaps this is why Benelli quit importing the extension, maybe because it could have also been put on a semi and consequently been illegal. :headscratch:

As said it is a pump.
Also, I don't have any knowledge on this but it would seems that imported parts, domestic is legal.

I had a brain fart, I was of course thinking of a semi....
